About the Role
Reporting to the General Manager, the Accommodation Manager is responsible for the overall operations and day to day running of a large student accommodation community on the Gold Coast.
Leading a multidisciplinary team across operations, administration, facilities and customer service, you will ensure the village consistently delivers an exceptional resident experience while achieving solid commercial and operational outcomes.
This is a hands-on leadership role suited to a commercially minded operator who can effectively balance financials performance, stakeholder engagement, team leadership and operational excellence within a fast-paced residential environment.
You will be an experienced operations leader with a background in accommodation, hospitality, residential, retirement living, student accommodation or property management. You are a natural people leader who enjoys driving performance, developing teams, improving operational processes and creating outstanding customer experiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop the Village team, fostering a positive, high performing and resident focused culture through effective coaching, training, performance management and employee engagement.
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the village, ensuring high standards of service, safety and resident experience.
- Develop and manage operational plans and budgets, with accountability for financial performance, forecasting and cost control.
- Drive occupancy through effective sales, leasing and marketing initiatives in partnership with the Marketing team.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with university partners, suppliers, contractors and key internal and external stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with WHS, legislation, policies, agreements, leases, contracts and operational standards.
- Oversee facilities, maintenance, contractors, suppliers, refurbishments and capital works to ensure the village is maintained to a high standard.
- Foster a safe, inclusive and engaging student community, supporting resident engagement initiatives, events and short-stay accommodation programs.
- Lead the village emergency management response as required and undertake other reasonable duties aligned with the needs of the business.
Essential Skills, Experience and Qualification
- Previous experience in a senior operational leadership role, ideally within accommodation, hospitality, residential, retirement living, student accommodation, property or another service-based industry.
- Strong financial management and commercial acumen, with experience managing budget driving occupancy and business performance.
- Proven ability to lead and develop multidisciplinary teams, contractors and service providers, with strong focus on performance and team culture.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with experience building strong relationships with university partners and overseeing facilities, maintenance or asset-related projects.
- A strong understanding of compliance, WHS and operational governance, combined with a proactive, solutions-focused leadership style and excellent organisation skills
- Relevant tertiary qualification, preferably in hotel, real estate or business management
- Current National Police Clearance Check
