Accountant / Finance Operator @ FOUNDIT

FOUNDIT is a buyer-first proptech platform built to fix a broken system. Buying property in Australia is confusing, slow, and often stacked against the buyer - we're here to change that.

We combine tech, research and real human support to help Australians find and buy the right property at the right price. Under the hood, that means two growing revenue streams - a national buyers agency (services) and a marketplace tech platform (software) - running across two entities, with a team of 15 across two states.

We're now looking for our first in-house Accountant / Finance Operator: someone who can own the numbers end to end, keep us squeaky clean with the ATO, and use AI to run a finance function that punches well above its headcount.

What you'll do

- Own day-to-day finance across both entities: bookkeeping, AP/AR, reconciliations and month-end close in Xero
- Handle all ATO and statutory lodgements: BAS/IAS, GST, PAYG withholding, superannuation, payroll tax across NSW and VIC, and workers comp declarations
- Run payroll and contractor payments for a 15-person team across two states, including commission and revenue-share reconciliations for our buyer agents
- Produce monthly management accounts and investor-grade reporting for the founders and board
- Build AI-powered workflows to automate the repetitive stuff - reconciliations, reporting, forecasting, document prep - so the function scales without adding headcount
- Work with our external tax advisors, auditors and lawyers on structuring, compliance and the occasional curly question

Who you are




- A qualified (or near-qualified) CA/CPA with 3-5+ years of hands-on accounting experience - practice, industry, or ideally a bit of both
- Fluent in Australian tax and compliance: you've lodged BAS, run payroll, managed super and payroll tax, and know your way around the ATO portal
- Genuinely high-competency with AI models - you already use tools like Claude or GPT daily to draft, analyse, automate and sanity-check your work, and you're hungry to push that further
- Comfortable being a one-person finance function: you don't need a big team around you to get things done right and on time
- Detail-obsessed on compliance, commercial on everything else - you know the numbers exist to drive decisions, not just fill spreadsheets
- Bonus points for exposure to real estate trust accounting, multi-entity structures, or startup and scale-up environments
