Registered Nurse — Community Hospital in the Home | National Home Nursing

You built your clinical career in hospitals. You're good at what you do — but somewhere along the way, the rotating shifts, the ward pressures and the feeling of never quite finishing what you started began to wear thin.

Community nursing offers something different. You manage your own caseload, you see your patients through from start to finish, and you finish a shift knowing exactly what you contributed. It's autonomous, clinically interesting work — and for the right nurse, it can be the best career decision they've made.

We're looking for experienced RNs to join our Hospital in the Home team across Bendigo VIC. With both Casual and Permanent Part-Time positions available, this is an opportunity to enjoy meaningful clinical work, genuine flexibility and a supportive team environment.

What the role actually looks like

- Working alongside Melbourne's major public and private hospitals to support patients transitioning home through early discharge programs
- Delivering hospital substitution, post-acute care and ambulatory infusion services in the community
- Managing your own caseload across a defined geographical region — with the autonomy to plan your day and the backing of a Senior Clinical Lead when you need it
- Applying a genuinely broad clinical skill set: complex wound care, IV infusion, PICC and PORT management, venepuncture, urinary catheterisation, respiratory assessment and comprehensive care planning
- Working predominantly day shifts, with flexibility to structure your working hours around your lifestyle, including school hours where possible
- Being provided with your own nursing consumables kit, ensuring you have the equipment you need to deliver high-quality care in the community

You're the right person if...

- You're a Registered Nurse with a minimum of three years recent acute hospital experience and a consolidated clinical skill set
- You're confident working autonomously — you don't need someone looking over your shoulder to do your best work
- Your IV cannulation skills are strong and you're comfortable with the full scope of community nursing clinical practice
- You're a transparent communicator and a natural patient advocate — the kind of nurse patients remember
- You hold a current driver's licence, have access to your own reliable insured vehicle, and are willing to obtain a National Police Clearance

You'll be well supported from day one

Moving from hospital nursing into community nursing can feel like a big step — which is why we don't expect you to simply arrive and work it out yourself.

You'll undertake a thorough orientation and induction process, designed to build your confidence in the community environment and ensure you're familiar with our clinical systems, processes and expectations.

You'll also have strong support from our office team. Importantly, many of our office staff come from a clinical background, so they understand the realities of nursing and the challenges that can arise when you're working in patients' homes. You'll be supported by a team that understands what you do — not just an administrative team at the end of the phone.

Our experienced office team also brings genuine continuity, with staff members who have been with the company for 8+ years. That stability means you're joining a team that knows the business, knows community nursing and is invested in supporting our clinicians.

Why National Home Nursing

National Home Nursing is part of Kanda — which means you're backed by one of Australia's most established care organisations, with the resources, clinical governance and peer support that community nurses actually need to do their job well.

You’ll have:

- Predominantly day work and genuine flexibility to work around your lifestyle and, where possible, school hours
- Casual and Permanent Part-Time opportunities
- A nursing consumables kit provided so you're equipped to deliver care in the community
- A thorough orientation and induction process
- Strong support from an experienced office team, including staff with clinical backgrounds
- The reassurance of a reliable team, with office staff who have been with the company for 8+ years
- A Senior Clinical Lead who’s there when the clinical picture gets complex
- The autonomy to manage your own caseload while still knowing you’re never working completely alone

If you've been considering leaving the hospital environment but don't want to leave behind the clinical work you enjoy, Hospital in the Home could be the next step you're looking for.

We're dedicated to building an inclusive environment where everyone feels safe, respected, and comfortable to be themselves. At National Home Nurse, every voice matters, every culture is valued, and we believe that diverse perspectives aren't just welcome — they're essential to who we are and what we do.
