The Import/Export Officer is responsible for managing daily international freight operations across sea and air, ensuring the timely and compliant movement of goods. The role actively coordinates with customers, carriers, and service providers to track shipments, resolve issues, and maintain service continuity. By ensuring accurate documentation, regulatory compliance, and proactive communication, the position supports operational reliability and enhances customer satisfaction across the supply chain.

ACCOUNTABILITIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Coordinates with customers and internal teams to plan and monitor import/export shipments.
- Tracks container and airfreight bookings to ensure timely delivery and proactively resolves delays or disruptions.
- Prepares and verifies shipping documentation (e.g., commercial invoices, packing lists, BL/AWB) to ensure accuracy and customs compliance.
- Liaises with carriers, freight forwarders, and customs brokers to secure capacity, maintain service levels, and optimise freight costs.
- Provides daily shipment status updates to customers and responds to queries to maintain solid relationships.
- Ensures compliance with import/export regulations, including customs clearance and restricted goods requirements.
- Analyses transport performance metrics (e.g., on-time delivery, exceptions) and recommends improvements.
- Maintains accurate data in logistics systems to enable real-time cargo visibility and reporting.
- Investigates and resolves shipment incidents, implementing corrective and preventive actions.
- Supports continuous improvement initiatives to enhance process efficiency, cost control, and service quality.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in import/export or international freight operations.
- Strong knowledge of sea and air freight processes, customs clearance, and regulatory compliance.
- Proficient in shipment tracking, operational coordination, and logistics documentation.
- Skilled in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and logistics or ERP systems.
- Effective communicator with experience working across internal teams and external partners.
- Solid analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to act decisively under pressure.
- Proven ability to manage relationships with carriers, freight forwarders, and customs brokers.
- Reliable and professional, with a consistent commitment to punctuality and meeting deadlines.
- High level of accountability, initiative, and self-motivation to drive operational outcomes.
