About The Opportunity

Malcolm Thompson Pumps has spent over 50 years building a reputation as one of WA's most capable pump businesses - and one of the few in the country that still runs its own on-site foundry, giving the team complete control over the manufacturing process from casting through to finished product.

We're looking for an Apprentice Fitter & Machinist to join our Perth team, starting December/January. You'll be learning the trade hands-on, working alongside experienced technicians on machining, casting, and pump repair for clients across mining, industrial, agriculture, and municipal sectors. It's a rare chance to see a full manufacturing process from start to finish - something most apprenticeships in this trade never get close to.

You won't be figuring this out on your own. Through our Elevate Apprenticeship Program, you'll have a mentor in your corner, structured learning through the Elevate Academy, and a wider community of apprentices across Questas Group going through the same journey.

Your Responsibilities

- Work alongside senior fitters and machinists on pump repair, rebuild, and manufacture
- Learn to read technical drawings and schematics
- Get hands-on with machining processes and equipment
- Gain exposure to our on-site foundry and casting operations
- Assist with inspection, fault-finding, and reassembly of pump components




- Attend training programs and courses to build your trade knowledge and skills

About You

- Minimum Year 10 High School Certificate
- Curious about how machines and mechanical systems work
- Comfortable with maths, and good with your hands
- Careful and precise - accuracy matters in this trade
- A explicit communicator who enjoys working with people
- Motivated, reliable, and ready to learn
