An exciting project opportunity is available to join the First Nations Community Access to Archives (FNCAA) project as the FNCAA Archivist.
This project role has been established to provide specialist archival expertise to support the identification, research, digitisation and culturally appropriate access of Australian Museum archival material relating to First Nations Peoples, languages, histories and cultural knowledge.
Working closely with the Senior Project Coordinator, FNCAA, First Nations teams, and Archives staff, the role will undertake complex archival research, support the prioritisation and preparation of material for digitisation, enhance collection records and metadata, and contribute to culturally appropriate access frameworks and project workflows.
The successful candidate will bring robust knowledge of archival practice and collection management, together with a culturally informed approach to working with First Nations material, communities and knowledge holders. An understanding of ICIP, cultural protocols and the importance of cultural safety in archives and collections will be key to success in the role.
Employment Status: Part-time, Fixed Term (until 30th June 2029)
Salary Classification: You will be paid a competitive pro-rated total remuneration package of $79,664 - $88,184, including a pro-rated annual salary of $70,189 - $77,695, plus employer’s contribution to superannuation (currently 12%) and annual leave loading.
