The Role The Logistics Inventory Officer is accountable under limited direction to perform and achieve moderately complex inventory and asset management work within an integrated workforce. They are accountable to have a good understanding of and compliance to relevant legislative frameworks, government decision-making and Defence’s mission and policy requirements.
Responsible for a range of duties in relation to the local and regional provisioning and inventory management for Joint Logistics Unit - North. Includes oversight, monitoring, and restocking of items, optimising min/max levels for reorder points. Assists in the forecast, commitment and expenditure for the section by providing accurate inventory data. This is an expected vacancy in December 2026.

Joint Logistics Unit-North provides logistics support to Australian Defence Force elements operating across the Northern Territory and Kimberley region, as well as coalition forces engaged in activities in Northern Australia. Logistics support provided by Joint Logistics Unit-North consists of maintenance, warehousing, distribution, regional procurement, and loan pool services.

The ideal candidate will possess the following attributes:
- Well-developed verbal and written communication skills, able to liaise effectively and consult with a wide cross section of military and civilian personnel, and industry partners.
- Ability to perform work tasks that require a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Trusted to work under limited direction and supervision, managing their own workload
- Sound time management skills, including the ability to prioritise a changing workload whilst still meeting deadlines, including response to short notice requirements.
- Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite of programs (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) essential.
