About the Role
We are seeking a passionate and customer-focused Part Time Aquatics Officer to join our Aquatics team. This diverse and hands-on role combines the responsibilities of a Lifeguard, Swim Teacher and Aquatics Duty Manager, providing an exciting opportunity to make a positive impact on the safety, education and enjoyment of our aquatic facility users. Working across pool supervision, swim instruction and operational leadership, you will help deliver a safe, welcoming and high-quality aquatic experience for patrons of all ages.
You will play a key role in maintaining facility standards, promoting water safety, responding to emergencies, supporting daily operations and providing exceptional customer service to the community.
What You'll Be Doing
- Supervise pools and aquatic areas to ensure a safe environment for patrons, enforce facility rules, perform rescues when required and provide first aid and emergency response.
- Deliver engaging swim lessons and water safety programs, adapting instruction to suit a range of ages and abilities while encouraging participant development and confidence.
- Assist with the day-to-day operation of the aquatic facility, including water quality testing, plant monitoring,
facility inspections and maintaining high standards of cleanliness and presentation.
- Support aquatic operations by responding to customer enquiries, supervising activities, liaising with user groups and staff, and acting as a leader on shift to ensure smooth and efficient facility operations.
What We're Looking For
- Current Pool Lifeguard qualification, First Aid and CPR certification, and an accredited Swim Teacher qualification (AUSTSWIM, Royal Life Saving or equivalent).
- Demonstrated experience in aquatic environments, including pool supervision, swim instruction and the ability to coordinate or supervise operational activities.
- Strong communication and customer service skills, with the ability to engage positively with children, families, user groups and the broader community.
- A proactive team player with sound judgement, strong safety awareness and the ability to remain calm and respond effectively in emergency situations.
- Working with Children Check and National Police Clearance
- LIWA Accreditation or willingness to obtain (desired)
- Experience conducting water quality testing and operating aquatic plant equipment (desired)
- Previous leadership, duty management or supervisory experience within an aquatic facility (desired)
