We are seeking an experienced and commercially focused State Manager to lead and oversee our transport rental operations in Victoria.

This is a pivotal leadership role responsible for driving operational excellence, safety, profitability, customer satisfaction, and team performance across our Derrimut branch and workshop. You'll lead a team, ensuring our fleet, people, and processes consistently deliver exceptional service outcomes for our customers.

About the role

Reporting to the General Manager Operations, you will be responsible for the overall performance of the state's operations, including branch management, workshop performance, fleet utilisation, customer relationships, financial outcomes, safety, compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives.

You'll be a visible and hands-on leader who can balance strategic thinking with operational execution while building a culture of accountability, safety, teamwork, and customer excellence.

What you’ll be doing

Champion and maintain a strong safety-first culture across all operations.

Lead and manage branch operations to deliver outstanding customer service and operational performance.

Develop and execute operational strategies that support business growth.

Monitor KPIs and drive efficiency and productivity improvements.





Maximise fleet utilisation while minimising downtime and operational disruption.

Oversee fleet availability, utilisation, maintenance, and asset management.

Work closely with workshop teams to ensure vehicles meet operational and safety standards.

Manage budgets and drive revenue growth and profitability.

Monitor and improve branch financial performance and cost controls.

Lead, coach, and develop managers and operational teams.

Foster a high-performance culture focused on accountability, safety, and service excellence.

Build strong relationships with key customers and stakeholders.

Drive customer satisfaction, retention, and service excellence.

Champion a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

Significant leadership experience within transport, logistics, fleet management, vehicle rental, equipment rental, or a related industry.

Proven success leading operations and high-performing teams.

Strong commercial acumen with experience managing budgets, P&L; performance, and operational KPIs.

Demonstrated ability to build strong customer relationships and drive business growth.

Solid knowledge of fleet management, maintenance operations, and asset utilisation.

Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.

A strong commitment to workplace health and safety.

High proficiency in business systems and Microsoft Office applications.
