Assistant Scheme Design Advisor

- Salary range: $102,936 - $113,579 + 12% Super + Leave Loading

The State Insurance Regulatory Authority (SIRA) is a NSW Government agency within the Department of Customer Service portfolio. SIRA is looking for an Assistant Advisor Scheme Design (Assistant Policy Officer) to join the organisation.

About Us

SIRA regulates three statutory insurance schemes in NSW - Workers Compensation, Compulsory Third Party and Home Building Compensation. We also oversee regulatory functions in other schemes including Dust Diseases and Lifetime Care and Support. We have offices in Sydney and Gosford.

About the role

We are seeking an Assistant Scheme Design Advisor to join the Integration and Review team in SIRA's Scheme Design - Workers Compensation & Health directorate, under the Regulatory Strategy & Stewardship Division. In this role, you will support the team with policy and regulatory reform initiatives within the workers compensation scheme.

Your responsibilities

- Support project delivery: Monitor project timelines and check quality standards
- Assist with research: Gather data and investigate policy areas, to contribute to informed decision making and policy development
- Help draft reports: Prepare clear briefs and project plans that guide policy decisions
- Handle team administration: Prepare meeting papers, draft letters, and take notes
- Coordinate stakeholders: Organise working groups and committees to connect stakeholders and promote collaboration
- Organise documentation: Keep project files and correspondence secure and up to date
- Boost process improvement: Find technology solutions to increase daily team efficiency.

About you

- You have experience developing and analysing government policy, or hold qualifications in political or social science,



public policy, or law
- You communicate complex ideas clearly
- You thrive in agile environments and adapt quickly to change and uncertainty
- You manage multiple tasks effectively, taking initiative to get things done on time
- You solve problems by analysing data and using legislation to guide decision
- You collaborate with your team and share your ideas
- You take ownership of your work, acting responsibly and in line with official policies, guidelines and law.

Eligibility To be eligible to apply, you must:

- Be an Australian citizen or permanent resident, or a New Zealand citizen with a current passport, and live in NSW and be able to travel to our Sydney or Gosford office each week or be willing to relocate.
