Role Description An Associate Director – Real Estate Valuations is a full-time role responsible for leading and expanding B&A; Valuers’ property valuation function. Based in Sydney, NSW, this is a hybrid role with commitment to attend office for weekly team meetings. You will perform and oversee valuation projects across prestige residential, commercial, industrial, and specialised property assets, ensuring reports are accurate, timely, and IVS-compliant.
Key responsibilities include managing client relationships, scoping engagements, undertake inspections, prepare valuation reports, mentoring and supervising valuers, and collaborating with asset advisory teams on complex multi-asset assignments. The role also includes identifying business opportunities, improving operational processes, monitoring market trends, and contributing to strategic decisions that strengthen service delivery and client outcomes.
Qualifications
- Relevant tertiary qualification in property, valuation, economics, finance, or a related discipline; professional membership or registration, such as Certified Practising Valuer or equivalent, is highly desirable.
- Associate or Fellow membership of the Australian Property Institute.
- Proficiency in financial modelling and the Microsoft Office suite.
- Qualification in plant and equipment valuation is advantageous.
Skills
- Proven experience in managing valuation teams, with robust people management and mentoring skills.
- High level of analytical, report writing, and presentation skills, with attention to detail and adherence to regulatory and professional standards.
- Ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment, manage multiple complex engagements, and use valuation and property valuation software tools confidently.
- Minimum 10 years of experience with 5 years as a manager independently handling commercial, industrial and specialised assets valuations.
- Prepare engagement letter and tender response.
- Thorough understanding in all the approaches to valuation (i.e. Market, Income and Cost approach).
- Longform report preparation with high attention to detail.
- Thorough knowledge of the International Valuation Standard and the Australian Accounting Standards (AASB) relevant to tangible assets valuation.
