The Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine (ACRRM) is a nationally recognised specialist medical college dedicated to improving health outcomes for rural, remote and First Nations communities across Australia. With more than 6,000 members, including Fellows, trainees and associate members, ACRRM plays a critical role in developing the rural medical workforce and advancing excellence in rural generalist medicine. As the organisation continues to grow its impact and influence nationally, ACRRM is seeking an exceptional executive leader to lead its Training portfolio and help define the future of rural medical education.

About the Role

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer and serving as a key member of the Executive Leadership Team, the General Manager, Education and Training will lead one of ACRRM’s most strategically important portfolios. This role oversees the end-to-end Fellowship training journey, ensuring Registrars experience a high-quality, seamless and well-supported pathway from selection and enrolment through to Fellowship completion. This is a position with significant national reach and influence, shaping the experiences of future Rural Generalists while strengthening the capacity of Australia's rural healthcare workforce.

This executive will help ensure training, education and assessment programs operate as an integrated and cohesive experience for Registrars across the country. More than an operational leadership role, this is an chance to influence the future of rural healthcare in Australia.



The successful candidate will lead programs that support doctors training and practising in communities where access to high-quality healthcare can have a profound impact on people's lives.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide strategic leadership for ACRRM's national training portfolio, ensuring alignment with organisational priorities and future workforce needs
- Lead the end-to-end Registrar experience, driving quality, consistency and exceptional service delivery across all stages of training
- Oversee Registrar selection, enrolment, placement, progression and completion processes
- Strengthen systems, governance frameworks and operational performance to support sustainable growth and continuous improvement
- Lead the accreditation, support and development of supervisors, educators and training posts across Australia
- Use data, insights and stakeholder feedback to drive innovation and enhance Registrar engagement and outcomes
- Build and lead a high-performing, values-driven team focused on excellence, collaboration and impact
- Represent ACRRM nationally and internationally and across sector stakeholder forums

About You

ACRRM is seeking a strategic and influential executive who combines operational excellence with a genuine commitment to education, workforce development and service. You may come from a professional college, university, healthcare organisation, training provider or another complex education environment. What matters most is your ability to lead large-scale training or learning programs, navigate complexity and inspire teams to deliver exceptional outcomes.





You are a collaborative and values-driven leader who can balance strategic thinking with practical execution. You understand the importance of stakeholder relationships, bring a robust service mindset and are motivated by the opportunity to contribute to something larger than yourself.

Additionally, you will bring:

- Significant executive or senior leadership experience within education, training, professional development or workforce capability environments
- Demonstrated success leading complex, large-scale programs with multiple stakeholders and competing priorities
- Strong governance, risk management and operational leadership capability
- Experience developing high-performing teams and fostering positive organisational culture
- Exceptional stakeholder engagement and influencing skills
- Strong analytical and strategic thinking capabilities, with the ability to translate insight into action
- A commitment to continuous improvement, innovation and service excellence
- An understanding of medical education, healthcare training or professional accreditation environments will be highly regarded
