The BDM Hire Industry role is a full-time position based in the Greater Melbourne Area, offering a varied mix of office-based and on-the-road work. The role is responsible for identifying and developing new business opportunities, while also maintaining and strengthening relationships with existing clients and promoting AJ Hire Shop’s equipment hire solutions.

Day-to-day activities will include meeting with existing and prospective clients, visiting customer sites, cold calling and outbound business development, preparing proposals and quotations, following up leads, and negotiating hire agreements. The role will involve spending time both in the office managing sales opportunities and on the road building relationships and generating new business.

The BDM will work closely with internal teams to ensure accurate equipment availability, pricing, and scheduling, while maintaining accurate records of sales activities, pipeline, and performance using CRM tools. The role will also involve gathering market insights, identifying current opportunities, attending relevant industry events, and continuously developing sales strategies to drive revenue growth.

This is a hands-on sales role suited to someone who enjoys variety, is confident meeting clients face-to-face,



is comfortable picking up the phone to generate new business, and is motivated by building long-term customer relationships.

Qualifications

- Strong business development and sales skills, including lead generation, client relationship management, and negotiation abilities.
- Experience in equipment hire, construction, industrial, or related sectors, with a solid understanding of hire processes and customer needs.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present solutions clearly and build trust with diverse stakeholders.
- Solid organizational and time management skills, including the ability to manage multiple opportunities, schedules, and priorities.
- Proficiency with CRM systems and basic computer applications (e.g., email, spreadsheets, and presentation tools).
- Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets and contributing to business growth.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel within the Greater Melbourne Area for client visits.
- Relevant qualification in business, sales, marketing, or a related field is advantageous but not essential.
