RM Watson is seeking an experienced Bid Lead to take ownership of our end-to-end tender and proposal process.
This is an opportunity for an accomplished bid professional who enjoys bringing structure to complex submissions, can turn technical information into compelling client-focused content, and knows how to keep multiple stakeholders and deadlines moving.
This is not simply a bid coordination role. You will have genuine accountability for the quality, compliance and delivery of our submissions – from identifying opportunities and interpreting tender requirements through to coordinating contributors, developing persuasive content, managing reviews and delivering polished submissions on time.
About RM Watson
RM Watson is a leading specialist remedial construction company delivering complex building remediation projects across a diverse range of sectors.
Our values – Innovation, Passion, Honesty, Loyalty and Teamwork, guide how we work with our clients and each other.
The opportunity
Reporting to the Commercial Director, you will take ownership of multiple concurrent bids and work closely with Business Development, Estimating, Operations, Marketing and senior leadership.
You'll be the person who brings the submission together – establishing the bid program, interpreting requirements, coordinating technical and commercial input, developing the narrative and ensuring every submission is accurate, compliant, persuasive and delivered ahead of deadline.
Your responsibilities will include
- Managing multiple tenders, EOIs, proposals, capability statements and prequalification submissions from commencement through to lodgement and debrief
- Monitoring tender portals and identifying relevant opportunities
- Interpreting RFTs, RFPs and EOIs and developing clear compliance matrices
- Establishing bid programs, milestones, responsibilities, review gates and submission deadlines
- Writing and editing high-quality technical and commercial proposal content
- Translating complex construction and technical information into clear, persuasive, client-focused responses
- Working with the Commercial Director, Business Development Manager and Estimating team to develop bid strategy,
win themes and key differentiators
- Coordinating input from estimating, operations, commercial and leadership teams and keeping contributors accountable to deadlines
- Identifying tender compliance, contractual and delivery risks for escalation
- Managing document and version control and coordinating review and approval processes
- Maintaining and improving capability statements, case studies, CVs, project sheets and standard bid content
- Tracking tender outcomes, lessons learned and opportunities to continually improve bid quality and effectiveness.
Ideally, you will bring:
- 3–5+ years' experience in bid/tender coordination or management, ideally within construction, building services or another technical industry
- Demonstrated experience independently managing multiple concurrent bids and competing deadlines
- Strong proposal and technical writing capability
- The ability to translate complex technical information into clear and compelling content
- Sound knowledge of tender and procurement processes, RFT/RFP structures, evaluation criteria and compliance requirements
- Exceptional attention to detail, grammar, formatting and document quality
- Strong stakeholder management skills and the confidence to keep contributors accountable to agreed deadlines
- Advanced Microsoft Word skills and strong capability across Microsoft Office and Adobe Acrobat
- Strong organisation, prioritisation and deadline management skills.
About You You are an experienced bid professional who can work with a high degree of autonomy and accountability.
You'll be commercially aware, an excellent writer and highly organised. Just as importantly, you'll have the confidence to work with busy technical and senior stakeholders,
ask the right questions and drive the information and decisions needed to deliver a quality submission.
Experience within remedial construction, rectification, façades, roofing, waterproofing or related building trades would be highly regarded, as would experience with TenderLink, Buy NSW, VendorPanel, Adobe InDesign or similar systems.
