Biochemistry Subject Matter Expert (AI Training)
About The Role
We're partnering with the world's leading AI research labs to build smarter, more accurate science-capable AI — and we need expert biochemists to make it happen. As a Biochemistry Subject Matter Expert, your deep knowledge of molecular biology, enzyme kinetics, metabolic pathways, and structural biology will directly shape how AI reasons about life sciences.
This is a fully remote, flexible contract role designed for PhD-level scientists who want to apply their expertise beyond the bench — no AI background required.
- Organization: Alignerr
- Type: Hourly Contract
- Location: Remote
- Commitment: 10–40 hours/week
What You'll Do
- Design Challenging Problems —
- Craft advanced biochemistry questions spanning nucleic acid chemistry, proteomics, drug-target interactions, and more to rigorously stress-test AI reasoning.
- Author Ground-Truth Solutions —
- Write precise, step-by-step technical responses that serve as gold-standard benchmarks for AI scientific reasoning.
- Audit AI Outputs —
- Evaluate AI-generated biochemical pathways, molecular structures, and mathematical proofs for technical accuracy, scientific soundness, and logical consistency.
- Refine AI Reasoning —
- Identify and document errors in AI logic — such as incorrect stoichiometry, flawed stereochemistry,
or misapplied enzyme kinetics — and provide structured feedback to improve model performance.
Who You Are
- Advanced Degree —
- PhD completed or in final stages in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or a closely related field.
- Deep Domain Knowledge —
- Strong expertise in one or more core areas: structural biology, enzymology, cellular metabolism, bioinformatics, or molecular genetics.
- Clear Technical Communicator —
- Able to explain complex biochemical and chemical concepts in accurate, well-structured written form.
- Detail-Oriented —
- High accuracy when reviewing chemical equations, reaction mechanisms, molecular diagrams, and experimental protocols.
- No prior AI experience required — your scientific expertise is what matters.
Nice to Have
- Experience with data annotation, quality evaluation, or scientific peer review
- Familiarity with computational biochemistry tools such as PyMOL, AlphaFold, or BLAST
- Background in bioinformatics or cheminformatics
