Highlands Community Centres Incorporation
Bowral
Highlands Community Centres Inc. (HCC) is a non-profit, incorporated, Registered Charity, supporting children and families in the Wingecarribee LCA (Southern Highlands). HCC has been working with the Southern Highlands community for more than 40 years. We are currently funded primarily by the Dept of Communities and Justice under the Children and Family Services (CAFS) program, with additional funding provided by the Dept of Education, National Indigenous Australians Associations (NIAA) and other small grants and private donations.
We are seeking additional Board members to join our voluntary Board of Management. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute essential knowledge and skills that will support to the growth and sustainability of our organisation. Our current funding is provided mostly by a multi-year NSW government grant, alongside an annual grant and various small grants from local government and private organisations. The latter must be applied for frequently.
In order to improve the stability and flexibility of our service we are seeking to expand our funding base through direct fundraising activities and philanthropy. Ideally, we would be able to address identified community needs which are not currently funded by government.
Our vision is a secure and well-connected community for children and families. To achieve this goal, we work with our community and partners to promote the safety and wellbeing of children and families. In addition to our own activities, we provide support and auspice for other local organisations, as needed.
HCC is a Child Safe Organisation committed to the safety, wellbeing and protection of children from abuse, neglect and harm. We have zero tolerance to any form of child abuse and are committed to full compliance with all applicable child protection laws, regulations and mandatory reporting requirements.
HCC is managed by a Service Manager with seven (8) staff reporting directly to her. These include Youth Workers,
Community Workers, Aboriginal Community Workers and an administrator. We work closely with other local organisations, Wingecarribee Shire Council and the Dept of Communities and Justice.
