Farmcraft, South East Queensland's largest independently owned group of rural merchandise stores, has been operating since 1992. We employ over 60 staff across 5 branches strategically located across SE QLD.
We cater for rural property owners growing a huge variety of crops or running livestock, as well as hobby farmers, home gardeners and pet owners.
We have a current opportunity for a Store Manager to join our small team in Boonah in the Scenic Rim.
The position would suit either an experienced Rural Merchandise Manager looking to take the next step, a Store Manager with stock control experience, or someone experienced in both Retail and Agriculture as a manager.
Role Description The Branch Manager is responsible for leading the branch team, overseeing daily operations, and ensuring exceptional customer service. This full-time role is based in Boonah, QLD. Day-to-day responsibilities include managing staff rosters and performance, coordinating inventory and stock ordering, and maintaining merchandising standards across product categories.
The role also involves building robust relationships with rural, lifestyle, and retail customers, handling key accounts, and resolving operational issues promptly.
The Branch
Manager will contribute to sales targets, monitor branch financial performance,
and ensure compliance with safety and company policies.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in branch management, retail management, or leadership in a rural or agricultural supplies environment.
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to provide practical advice on rural products and build long-term client relationships.
- Competence in inventory control, stock ordering, and basic financial oversight (budgets, sales reporting, and cost management).
- Effective people leadership skills, including staff supervision, coaching, performance management, and team-building.
- Solid communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively.
- Comfort with using point-of-sale systems, basic office software, and digital tools to manage operations and reporting.
- Understanding of rural merchandise such as stockfeeds, fertiliser, hardware, and agricultural chemicals (or willingness to learn quickly).
- Valid driver’s licence and ability to perform manual handling tasks associated with stock movement.
- Previous experience in the agricultural, farming, or rural retail sector is highly regarded.
- Formal qualifications in business, agriculture, or management are advantageous but not essential.
- Forklift ticket (or an ability to obtain one)
