About the role
Central Highlands Development Corporation (CHDC) is the lead economic and tourism development agency for the Central Highlands, Queensland.
CHDC's full-time Business Development Coordinator (BDC), working in tandem with a second BDC, builds trusted, on-the-ground relationships with small and medium-sized businesses and priority industry sectors to gather regional intelligence, monitor economic conditions, identify supply chain capability and opportunities, and manage partnership relationships.
Duties/Key Responsibilities
- Industry Development & Strategic Projects: Deliver initiatives, programs and events that strengthen local industry, support business growth and advance regional economic development outcomes.
- Supply Chain Development & Local Participation: Identify procurement opportunities, build local supplier capability and strengthen connections between major projects and regional businesses.
- Strategic Partnerships & Stakeholder Engagement:
Develop and maintain productive relationships with industry, government, education providers, major employers and other key stakeholders.
- Regional Intelligence & Opportunity Analysis: Monitor regional trends, identify emerging opportunities and provide insights that support business, investment and workforce development.
- Communications & Reporting: Prepare high-quality reports, stakeholder communications and promotional material to support project delivery and strategic objectives.
- Team & Culture: Contribute to a positive workplace culture and represent CHDC with professionalism, integrity and collaboration.
Skills and Experience
- Qualifications and/or experience in business, economic, regional or community development, or a related field.
- Experience working with small to medium-sized businesses and industry stakeholders.
- Sound understanding of regional economies and business growth opportunities.
- Proven stakeholder engagement, partnership-building and relationship management skills.
- Strong communication, organisational and Microsoft 365 skills.
- Current driver's licence.
