Job Description

The Role

We’re looking for an experienced Mechanical Fitter to join a team working on the cranes and davits aboard Royal Australian Navy vessels at Garden Island. This is hands‑on maintenance and repair work in a Defence marine environment, with genuine long‑term potential for the right candidate.

What You’ll Be Doing

- Servicing, repairing, and maintaining shipboard cranes and davits
- Diagnosing and rectifying hydraulic system faults
- Performing mechanical fitting, fault‑finding, and overhaul work on deck equipment
- Working alongside riggers, engineers, and Defence personnel in an active naval dockyard
- Ensuring all work meets strict marine and safety standards

What You’ll Need





- Trade qualification as a Mechanical Fitter (essential)
- Strong hydraulics knowledge and fault‑finding experience (essential)
- Previous marine or shipboard maintenance experience (highly regarded)
- Basic Rigging Ticket (desirable)
- Australian Citizenship — mandatory for site access
- Ability to pass Defence security screening
- Strong safety focus and ability to work in a controlled dockyard workplace
