A leading global qualified services organisation is seeking an experienced Payroll Manager to join the business team on a 3-month contract with an immediate start.
This opportunity has been created to provide payroll leadership and additional capacity during a busy period, supporting both business-as-usual payroll operations and key payroll projects. You will lead a small payroll function and oversee the end-to-end payroll process for approximately850employees across both fortnightly and monthly payroll cycles.
This role would suit a hands‑on payroll professional who can quickly integrate into a complex environment, provide leadership to the payroll team, and ensure payroll operations continue to run efficiently and compliantly.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end processing of fortnightly and monthly payrolls for approximately 850 employees.
- Manage and support a Senior Payroll Officer, providing leadership, coaching and guidance.
- Act as the escalation point for complex payroll queries and stakeholder matters.
- Ensure compliance with Australian payroll legislation, Single Touch Payroll requirements, superannuation obligations and company policies.
- Manage payroll reconciliations, reporting, salary packaging and audit requirements.
- Partner closely with Finance and People & Culture teams on payroll-related matters.
- Prepare payroll reports, reconciliations and management insights.
- Support payroll projects, system enhancements, testing activities and process improvements.
- Assist with month-end activities and maintain strong payroll controls and documentation.
- Provide support across payroll systems administration and troubleshooting activities.

To be successful in this role, you will possess:
- Extensive end-to-end payroll management experience within a medium to large organisation.
- Strong experience managing both fortnightly and monthly payroll cycles.
- Demonstrated leadership experience within a payroll function.
- Sound knowledge of Australian payroll legislation, awards, superannuation and compliance requirements.
- Strong stakeholder management, reporting and reconciliation skills.
- The ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment.
- A highly organised and detail‑oriented approach.
Essential Requirements
- Proven Aurion Payroll system experience is mandatory.
- Experience leading payroll operations in complex environments.
- Availability to commence at short notice or immediately.
Desirable
- Exposure to Workday.
- Experience within professional services, legal, financial services or similarly complex environments.
