Working Hours: 38 hours per week
Salary: $80,000 – $90,000 + Superannuation
Annual Leave: 4 weeks per year
Role Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook a variety of dishes according to established recipes and quality standards.
- Prepare ingredients and ensure food is cooked and presented consistently during service.
- Assist with planning and developing menus, daily specials and seasonal dishes.
- Monitor the quality of dishes throughout all stages of preparation and presentation.
- Estimate food requirements and assist with ordering ingredients and kitchen supplies.
- Ensure appropriate portion control and minimise food wastage.
- Monitor stock levels and ensure ingredients are stored, labelled and rotated correctly.
- Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene and cleanliness throughout the kitchen.
- Ensure compliance with relevant workplace health, safety and food handling requirements.
- Prepare and adapt dishes to accommodate customers’ dietary requirements and preferences.
- Work closely with kitchen and front-of-house staff to ensure smooth and efficient service.
- Assist in training and providing guidance to junior kitchen staff where required.
- Maintain kitchen equipment and work areas in a clean and organised condition.
- Contribute ideas to improve kitchen efficiency, menu quality and overall food service operations.
Qualifications & Skills
- Certificate III, Certificate IV or Diploma in Commercial Cookery, or a related qualification.
- Minimum 1 year of relevant experience as a Cook or Chef in a café, restaurant or similar hospitality environment.
- Sound knowledge of food preparation, cooking techniques and kitchen operations.
- Good understanding of food safety, hygiene and workplace safety requirements.
- Ability to work efficiently in a busy and quick-paced kitchen environment.
- Strong communication, teamwork and time-management skills.
- Ability to maintain consistency and attention to detail during busy service periods.
- Passion for preparing fresh, high-quality food and delivering an excellent customer experience.
- Reliable, organised and able to work effectively as part of a team.
