Tasks and duties

Plan menus and estimate food and labour costs

Organise and supervise the preparation and cooking of food

Prepare and cook Italian dishes according to restaurant standards

Monitor quality of dishes at all stages of preparation and presentation

Demonstrate cooking techniques and advise kitchen staff on preparation procedures

Train and supervise kitchen staff when required

Ensure consistent food presentation and portion control

Monitor stock levels and place orders for food supplies

Ensure compliance with food safety, hygiene,



and workplace health and safety regulations

Work closely with management to maintain kitchen standards and efficiency

Requirements and skills

Relevant qualification such as Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery or equivalent

At least two years relevant work experience as a Chef

Experience with Italian cuisine preferred

Ability to supervise kitchen staff and maintain kitchen operations

Strong organisational and time management skills

Ability to work in a fast-paced restaurant environment

Good understanding of food safety and sanitation regulations

Robust attention to detail and quality standards
