The Opportunity:

Sharp & Carter have partnered with an established and growing national mining services organisation to appoint a commercially focused Chief Financial Officer to lead the finance function and play a key role in the organisation’s continued growth across Australia.

Reporting directly to the CEO and working closely with the broader executive and global leadership teams, the CFO will have responsibility for the organisation’s financial strategy, governance, performance, commercial decision-making and finance operations across a complex, multi-entity environment.

This is an exciting opportunity for an up-and-coming CFO or experienced senior finance leader who is ready to take that next significant career step.

The organisation is looking for someone who can go beyond traditional finance leadership and become a genuine commercial partner to the CEO and executive team — providing strategic insight, challenging decisions, identifying opportunities and helping shape the next phase of growth.

The successful candidate will be comfortable operating in a mining services, project-driven and operationally focused environment, with the ability to balance strong financial governance with commerciality and an understanding of the realities of the resources sector.

Key Responsibilities:

- Lead the overall finance function and provide strategic financial leadership to the Australian business.
- Partner with the CEO and executive leadership team on strategy, growth and business performance.
- Develop and execute financial strategy aligned to the organisation’s broader commercial objectives.
- Oversee financial reporting, accounting, budgeting, forecasting, cash flow and financial planning.

- Provide commercial insight across projects, contracts, operations and business development activities.
- Drive improved financial performance, profitability and working capital management.
- Strengthen financial governance, internal controls, risk management and compliance frameworks.
- Lead audit, tax, statutory reporting and regulatory requirements.
- Provide transparent and commercially relevant financial information to the CEO, executive team and global leadership.
- Lead, develop and mentor the finance team across accounting and payroll.
- Drive finance transformation, systems improvements and process optimisation.
- Support business growth, integration and strategic initiatives across the Australian operation.
- Act as a key representative of finance across the broader international organisation.

About You: This opportunity would suit an ambitious and commercially minded finance leader who is ready to take the next step into a CFO role, or an existing CFO looking for a broader and more commercially focused opportunity.

You will ideally bring

- CA or CPA qualification.
- Previous experience as a CFO, Financial Controller, Finance Director or senior finance leader.
- Strong experience within mining services, resources, engineering, industrial, infrastructure, project-based or technical services environments.

- Strong commercial acumen and the ability to operate as a genuine business partner to the CEO and executive leadership team.
- Experience leading and developing high-performing finance teams.
- Strong understanding of financial strategy, governance, reporting, cash flow and commercial performance.
- Experience operating within multi-entity and/or geographically dispersed organisations.
- Demonstrated experience improving financial processes, systems, controls and reporting capability.
- Strong ERP and systems capability.
- Excellent communication, influencing and stakeholder management skills.
- A hands-on, pragmatic and commercially driven leadership style.
- The ambition, maturity and capability to operate as a key member of the executive leadership team.

Why This Opportunity? This is an chance to take on a genuine CFO mandate within a growing international mining services organisation.

For an up-and-coming CFO, it provides the opportunity to step into the top finance role, work directly with the CEO, influence commercial strategy and gain broader exposure across operations and an international group.

For an established CFO, it offers the opportunity to join a growing organisation where finance has a genuine seat at the table and the ability to influence the next phase of the business.

If you are ready to take that next step and want a CFO role where you can genuinely make an impact, this is an opportunity worth exploring.
