We are currently seeking qualified and experienced Ship Engineers and Ship Masters to join our team.

Qualships Pty Ltd is a leading ISO certified marine service provider delivering surveys, marine inspections, technical services, and supplies across Australia and internationally. Our team is comprised of Master Mariners and Marine Engineers, trusted shipowners, managers, P & L Clubs, and flag states for our professional standards and reliability. Qualships continues to expand and meet client demand in all major Australian ports. We are currently looking for a Ship Master to join our Team.

Roles and responsibilities

- Navigate and command vessels when required in accordance with international conventions and Australian maritime law.

- Travel across multiple Australian ports to apply master-level expertise in navigation, vessel operations, crew management, and international maritime law.

- Plan and oversee voyage safety, including passage planning, cargo handling, and stowage operations onboard ships to ensure safe and productive marine operations.

- Direct crew management activities, including watchkeeping arrangements, onboard operational planning, and identifying training requirements for ship after inspections





- Oversee and support pre-purchase and pre-loading condition surveys, working in coordination with marine surveyors and relevant stakeholders.

- Conduct AMSA and Paris MoU readiness inspections and perform documentation reviews to ensure vessels are prepared for regulatory inspections.

- Verify vessel safety and environmental compliance in accordance with ISM, MLC, and MARPOL requirements and applicable Marine Orders.

- Prepare operational and compliance reports relating to vessel safety and navigation, including findings from inspections and operational assessments.

- Coordinate with Marine Surveyors, Classification Societies, and Port Authorities to support inspection outcomes, certification processes, and regulatory compliance.

Skills and Qualifications:

AQF Associate Degree, Advanced Diploma or Diploma, or at least three years of relevant experience (ANZSCO Skill Level 2)

Master (FG) Certificate of Competency

Experience:

3-year minimum experience as a Ship Master or in a related field.
