About the opportunity
This is a senior leadership role for a commercially minded finance professional who wants to operate at the intersection of finance, compliance and operational performance. We're partnering exclusively with a purpose-driven national organisation in the government-funded services sector to appoint a Commercial Finance Manager.
You'll lead two critical functions: a high-volume, compliance-focused operations team that reviews and processes claims against government funding contracts, and a finance control and analysis team. This is a genuine operational leadership position with direct revenue and compliance accountability.
If you come from a Big 4 or mid-tier background, have moved into industry, and want to lead a team through process improvement and compliance uplift in a mission-driven environment - this is worth a conversation.

About the role Reporting to a senior finance executive, you will be responsible for:
- Leading a national operations function, driving commercial outcomes
- Driving month-end reporting, budgeting, forecasting, financial modelling and business performance analysis
- Maximising revenue opportunities across multiple funding streams
- Leading continuous improvement initiatives to lift efficiency, reporting accuracy and operational effectiveness
- Providing commercial insights and financial guidance to senior leaders across the organisation
- Building financial capability and commercial acumen across operational leadership teams
What they're looking for The ideal candidate is technically strong, understands compliance and audit environments, can operate with a commercial lens and has the people leadership skills to develop managers and drive culture.
- CA or CPA qualified
- Significant experience in financial management, forecasting, budgeting and performance analysis
- Audit or compliance background - you understand what being audited means and how to build audit-ready processes
- Strong knowledge of accounting standards and SLAs
- Experience leading leaders and developing large, high-performing teams
- Track record of driving process improvement and operational excellence
