THE JOB
As the Coordinator of Financial Accounting, you will be responsible for leading the teams that processes operational financial transactions such as Accounts Payable, Payroll, and reconciliations. You will work closely with the Rates and Revenue Team, and other council departments to make sure suppliers are paid correctly, payroll is processed smoothly, and enquiries are handled efficiently and effectively.
We are seeking a systematic and capable person with strong basis in finance and excellent collaboration and interpersonal skills allowing the successful applicant to coordinate work plans to meet community needs and organisational priorities now and into the future.
A background in local government is sought for this position, though what matters most is your financial capability, accuracy, leadership and communication skills.

SELECTION CRITERIA
Essential Criteria
1. Degree qualification in Accounting or equivalent knowledge and skills gained through experience.
2. Certified Practicing Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Account (CA) qualification or substantial progress toward membership with an agreed completion pathway.
3. Demonstrated experience coordinating complex financial accounting and statutory reporting, preferably in NSW local government or another regulated public-sector environment.
4. Strong working knowledge and demonstrated application of Accounting Standards, the Local Government Act and the Integrating Planning and Reporting (IP&R;) framework and/or the ability to translate and apply these principles.
5. Demonstrated capability in general-ledger governance, month/year-end close, reconciliations, taxation compliance, treasury and internal controls.
6. Proven work planning and quality-review skills, including the ability to deliver under competing statutory deadlines.

Advanced financial accounting system and Excel skills, with the ability to analyse large data sets and explain findings clearly to non-finance stakeholders.
8. Demonstrated ability to provide a high standard of customer service to internal and external customers.
9. Demonstrated ability to build, maintain, and navigate strategic relationships with diverse cross-functional teams, external partners, and senior management.
10. Demonstrated ability to foster cooperative work environment, share knowledge, and support colleagues to achieve shared organisational objectives as well as demonstrated capacity to mediate disputes, facilitate negotiations, and resolve interpersonal conflicts constructively while maintaining team morale and operational efficiency.

Snowy Valleys Council is a scenic and heritage rich local government area in the South-West Slopes region of New South Wales which spans 8959km2 with approximately 15,000 residents living in a number of vibrant and unique towns, villages and rural properties. THE BENEFITS
- Fortnightly salary range of $4465.94 to $5026.40 per fortnight (gross) plus 12% superannuation. Salary offered within the range will be negotiated based on qualifications, skills and experience.
- This is a permanent, full time position of 70 hours per fortnight.
