Shelford Campus

Opening in 2027 in the heart of Caulfield, Shelford Campus will be Caulfield Grammar School’s newest Junior School. The campus will initially offer exceptional education for students in Prep and Years 4–6, before growing into a full Prep to Year 6 Junior School. This represents a once‑in‑a‑career opportunity for a founding teaching team to shape the culture and community from the ground up, delivering high‑impact learning in an outstanding purpose‑designed environment.

The Role

This is an exciting opportunity to support the wellbeing, resilience and success of students as part of the foundation team at our new Shelford Campus. Reporting to the Deputy Principal - Head of Campus, the Counsellor will apply their psychological and educational expertise to support students' academic success, psychological health, and social and emotional wellbeing. Working closely with students, families, teaching staff and the broader Counselling Services team, you will provide counselling support, psycho-educational assessments and wellbeing interventions that promote positive student outcomes.

You will play a key role in supporting students experiencing educational, social, behavioural and emotional challenges, while building strong partnerships with parents, staff and external specialists. Through collaborative practice and evidence-based support strategies, you will contribute to a nurturing and inclusive learning environment where every student is known, supported and empowered to thrive.

As a founding member of the Shelford Campus team,



you will help establish a strong culture of wellbeing and pastoral care while contributing to broader school initiatives that reflect the values and aspirations of Caulfield Grammar School.

This is an ongoing part-time opportunity with the requirement of full-time term-time commitment in 2027 to support the first year of Shelford Campus.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide counselling support to students and consult with parents regarding educational, social, behavioural and emotional concerns.
- Conduct and manage psycho-educational assessments, prepare reports and communicate findings to relevant stakeholders.
- Prioritise and manage student referrals and access to counselling services based on identified needs.
- Liaise with external agencies, specialists and healthcare providers to support student wellbeing outcomes.
- Collaborate with the Counselling Services team and campus staff to deliver student wellbeing initiatives and manage student needs.
- Provide advice and support to school leaders and staff on pastoral care and student welfare matters.
- Deliver professional learning and wellbeing-focused support for staff where appropriate.
- Provide crisis intervention support and coordinate responses with key stakeholders and external service providers as required.
- Maintain confidential records and documentation in accordance with professional and ethical requirements.
- Support data collection, reporting and administration associated with counselling service provision.
- Contribute to the School's pastoral care and personal development programs.
- Uphold the School's commitment to Child Safety, ensuring the wellbeing, safety and dignity of all students at all times.

Skills And Qualifications

- Employment Working with Children Check.
- Registration as a Psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia (AHPRA).




- Experience working with children and adolescents in a school setting.
- Highly developed counselling skills and experience supporting student wellbeing.
- Demonstrated psycho-educational assessment experience.
- Strong report writing, assessment and case management capability.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships with students, families and staff.
- Ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary teams and school communities.
- Commitment to professional growth, continuous improvement and alignment with school priorities.
