We are seeking an experienced Senior Data Modeler with strong expertise in Google Cloud Platform (GCP), BigQuery, Data Governance, Data Stewardship and Collibra to join our team in Melbourne.

The ideal candidate will have solid experience in data modelling and governance, with hands on GCP experience. You will be responsible for translating business requirements into conceptual, logical and physical data models while supporting enterprise data governance and stewardship initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

- Develop conceptual, logical and physical data models for enterprise analytics and data products.
- Design and maintain dimensional models using Kimball methodology, with familiarity with Data Vault 2.0.
- Build and optimize BigQuery schemas, including partitioning, clustering and cost-effective storage patterns.
- Define Critical Data Elements (CDEs), semantic layers, naming standards and data modelling practices.
- Collaborate with data engineering teams across Dataflow, Dataproc, Cloud Composer, Pub/Sub, Cloud Functions and dbt on BigQuery.
- Establish and maintain data domains, ownership, business glossaries, policies and governance standards.
- Define data quality rules, thresholds and certification criteria and support remediation activities.
- Configure and administer Collibra, including communities, domains, responsibilities, business glossary and stewardship workflows.
- Support technical metadata and lineage ingestion from GCP platforms into Collibra.




- Develop Collibra dashboards and stewardship KPIs and support users across data teams.
- Embed data policies for PII and regulated datasets and support auditability and access controls.
- Facilitate data model walkthroughs with business, architecture and product stakeholders.
- Support model versioning, peer reviews and lifecycle management through Git-based workflows.

Required Skills & Experience

- Experience in data modelling and/or data governance.
- Strong experience with GCP.
- Strong SQL skills, with hands-on experience with BigQuery.
- Strong experience in conceptual, logical and physical data modelling.
- Strong understanding of dimensional modelling / Kimball.
- Familiarity with Data Vault 2.0.
- Hands-on experience with Collibra, including business glossary, domains, workflows, lineage and stewardship.
- Strong understanding of Data Governance and Data Stewardship.
- Experience defining CDEs, data quality rules and data certification processes.
- Strong stakeholder management, facilitation, documentation and presentation skills.

Desirable Skills

- Collibra certifications such as Data Steward, Governance or Ranger.
- GCP Professional Data Engineer certification.
- Experience with data modelling tools such as Erwin, ER/Studio, SqlDBM or Hackolade.
- Experience with data quality/observability tools.
- Python and/or dbt.
- Git and CI/CD for data.
- Terraform experience.
