About the role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Dental Assistant to join the team at Braces and Smiles in Hadfield, VIC 3046. This is a part-time position that plays a vital role in supporting our dental practitioners and ensuring our patients receive exceptional care in a welcoming environment. As a Dental Assistant, you will be at the heart of our clinical operations, assisting with patient care, maintaining sterilisation standards, and contributing to the smooth running of our practice.

This role is essential to delivering the high-quality dental services our patients expect and deserve.

What you'll be doing

Your key responsibilities will include:

- Assisting dentists and dental therapists during clinical procedures, including passing instruments and materials as required
- Preparing treatment rooms and sterilising dental instruments in accordance with infection control protocols
- Greeting patients, managing reception duties, and maintaining accurate patient records and appointment schedules
- Taking and processing dental radiographs (X-rays) in compliance with safety regulations
- Providing chair-side support during patient treatments and procedures
- Maintaining a clean, hygienic and safe working environment at all times
- Assisting with patient education on oral hygiene and dental health
- Managing dental supplies and equipment, ordering stock as needed
- Supporting the practice with administrative and clerical tasks
- Adhering to all relevant dental practice regulations, health and safety standards, and infection control procedures

What we're looking for We are looking for candidates with the following skills, qualifications and experience:

- A recognised Dental Assistant qualification
- Knowledge of dental terminology, procedures, and clinical best practices
- Experience working in a dental practice for at least 12 months
- Strong understanding of infection control and sterilisation protocols
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with patients and colleagues




- Attention to detail and organisational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced clinical workplace
- Patient-focused approach with genuine care for patient wellbeing and comfort
- Reliability and punctuality, with flexibility to work within part-time hours
- Current First Aid and CPR certification is preferred
- Familiarity with dental practice management software
