Defence consultancy seeking an experienced Deputy Project Manager to support a major Defence capability program in Canberra. Working within a complex engineering environment, you will assist in coordinating technical activities, stakeholder inputs, system integration efforts and project governance outcomes supporting the delivery of critical Defence capabilities.
This engagement offers the opportunity to work alongside engineering, safety, certification and assurance specialists on a long-term, nationally significant program.
Your new role In this role you will support the planning, coordination and delivery of complex engineering and technical workstreams across requirements development, systems design, integration planning and verification and validation (V&V;) activities.
You will act as a key coordination point between project stakeholders and specialist technical teams, ensuring requirements, engineering artefacts, certification evidence and delivery activities remain aligned with project schedules, dependencies and governance expectations.
Key responsibilities
- Support the delivery of complex engineering and technical work packages throughout the project lifecycle.
- Coordinate activities across requirements management, systems engineering, integration planning and V&V; execution.
- Liaise with engineering, safety, regulatory and certification specialists to ensure technical inputs are incorporated into project deliverables.
- Track technical actions, decisions, risks, issues and dependencies through established governance frameworks.
- Maintain project documentation,
evidence repositories and decision records to support assurance and audit requirements.
- Monitor technical progress and provide updates to senior project stakeholders.
- Support the development and maintenance of project schedules, risk registers and reporting artefacts.
- Assist with governance, assurance and project review activities.
- Ensure technical activities remain aligned with project milestones, delivery objectives and quality expectations.
- Contribute to certification evidence and compliance documentation where required.
What you'll need to succeed
- Demonstrated experience supporting the delivery of engineering, systems, technical or Defence capability projects.
- Strong understanding of project management principles and governance processes.
- Experience working within complex stakeholder environments involving multiple technical disciplines.
- Exposure to systems engineering, requirements management, integration, testing, verification and validation activities.
- Ability to manage technical documentation, risk registers, action registers and project reporting.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Strong organisational abilities with exceptional attention to detail.
- Experience supporting safety, assurance, certification or regulatory compliance activities will be highly regarded.
- Defence, Defence industry or Commonwealth Government experience is desirable.
- Hold an NV1 clearance
