The CEFC is Australia’s specialist climate investor, helping cut emissions in the race towards net zero by 2050. With access to more than $33 billion from the Australian Government, we invest to deliver a positive return for taxpayers.
This is an exciting newly created position, leading a wonderful team of four to five across Marketing, Events and Digital. As Director – Marketing and Digital, you will take ownership of how the CEFC’s marketing strategy, campaigns and programs of work are planned, prioritised, delivered and measured.
Reporting to the Head of Marketing and Communications, you will translate CEFC’s corporate and investment priorities into a explicit marketing program, set the team’s operating rhythm, own the marketing calendar and determine priorities across campaigns, partnerships, events, content, CRM and digital channels.
Your team sits within the wider Corporate Affairs, Marketing and Communication function and operates as an ‘engine room’. You will maintain visibility across workloads, prevent campaign overlap, manage business expectations and act as a key link between Marketing, Investment teams and the other stakeholders you support.
You will also own the marketing technology stack, CRM agenda and performance reporting, clearly demonstrating impact, effectiveness and reach.
This is a hands-on role, requiring someone with both strategic acumen and executional discretion. Two of your reports work across marketing and events and will look to you for direction and coaching. The other 2-3 are digital and tech/development specialists who need clear priorities and to be supported through a briefing process, but need little technical supervision and support.
You will brief, review and sign off the team’s work, stepping in to deliver when volume, confidentiality or job priority requires you to.
This is a deeply rewarding, purpose-led opportunity for a senior marketing specialist to play a central role in Australia’s energy transition at a defining time in our nation’s history.
It will suit someone with foresight, integrity, sound strategic judgement and who will offer a supportive and transformative leadership style.
The role you’ll play
As Director, Marketing and Digital, you will:
- Lead marketing strategy and planning for CEFC's investment platforms, working with the Head of Marketing and Communications, the Marketing Managers and the Investment teams.
- Own the marketing calendar, planning frameworks and workflows, and prioritise across campaigns
- Lead, coach and develop a team of at least four direct reports across marketing, events and digital.
- Work with the team to define the audience, channel and partnership mix that puts CEFC in front of the right people.
- Own the marketing technology ecosystem and CRM strategy, including governance and internal stakeholder management.
- Build the performance framework, including KPIs, dashboards and reporting that show impact and return on investment.
- Act as the escalation point and internal liaison for marketing work across the organisation, clarifying timelines and managing expectations.
- Look for better ways to work, including where AI or other tools/processes can lift what the team produces, while maintaining integrity and human oversight.
- Work with the Head of Marketing and Communications and other senior leaders in the function to plan, prioritise and execute market-leading campaigns and projects which deliver on the organisation’s objectives.
- Get on the tools for high-priority campaigns, stakeholder materials and executive reporting.
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- Marketing leadership : 10+ years’ experience across marketing, campaigns, digital, CRM and events, including leading a function and/or a multidisciplinary team of three or more.
- In-house experience : Client-side experience delivering complex programs of work,
against tight deadlines and managing multiple concurrent campaigns.
- Technology and data : Experience with marketing technology, CRM and digital platforms, plus the confidence to make decisions using performance data.
- Planning and delivery : Exceptional project and program management skills, with the ability to plan, schedule, budget and coordinate
- People leadership : A constructive, collaborative and humble management style with appropriately high yet realistic expectations.
- Stakeholder Engagement : Confidence working with, advising and pushing back on senior stakeholders, including Executives and the Board.
- Adaptable Mindset : A solutions-focused, adaptable approach, with genuine curiosity about the CEFCs diverse audiences and what moves them.
- Sector experience : Experience in financial services, banking, energy, government or a similarly complex or regulated sector will be viewed favourably.
- Qualifications : Tertiary and/or postgraduate qualifications in Marketing or a related discipline.
