Role Description This is a full-time, in office Electrical Estimator role based in South Melbourne, VIC.
The Electrical
Estimator will prepare detailed cost estimates for commercial and industrial electrical projects, including reviewing drawings, specifications, and tender documents. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting quantity take-offs, sourcing and evaluating supplier and subcontractor quotes, and developing accurate project budgets. The role involves collaborating with project managers and engineers to refine scopes, identify value engineering opportunities,
and support bid submissions.
The Electrical
Estimator will also assist with cost control during project delivery, maintain estimating documentation and databases, and contribute to continuous improvement of estimating processes.
Qualifications
- Strong proficiency in Electrical Estimating, including developing detailed cost breakdowns and tender proposals.
- Experience with Cost Control and budget tracking for construction or electrical installation projects.
- Background in Electrical Contracting, with understanding of commercial and industrial installation practices.
- Solid knowledge of Electricity and electrical systems, including relevant codes, standards, and safety requirements.
- Qualification in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent technical training and experience in the electrical industry.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical plans, specifications, and construction documentation.
- Competence with estimating software and MS Office tools, particularly Excel.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to work to deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work well with internal teams and external partners.
- Previous experience estimating within commercial, industrial, or large-scale construction projects is highly regarded.
