The Aboriginal Health & Medical Research Council of NSW (AH&MRC;) is the peak body for Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services across New South Wales. We work alongside our Members to strengthen Aboriginal community-controlled healthcare and improve the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and communities.

Our work spans advocacy, policy, workforce development, health promotion, research, training and organisational support. We bring the experience and priorities of our Members into state and national decision-making, advocate for better health systems and investment, and help build the capability and sustainability of the Aboriginal community-controlled health sector.

About the Role

We are looking for a self‑motivated and adaptable individual to join as our Project Officer, Sexual Health supporting the delivery of culturally safe sexual health initiatives that improve health outcomes for Aboriginal communities across NSW.

This is a male‑identified position, reflecting the role's focus on engaging respectfully and culturally appropriately with Aboriginal men and communities. Reporting to the Public Health Manager, and working closely with AH&MRC; Member Services, communities and internal teams, you'll coordinate health promotion, community engagement, education and workforce development activities focused on sexual health awareness,



prevention and access to support, from planning through to delivery, reporting and evaluation.

This role requires travel throughout NSW as required.

Responsibilities

Program Coordination & Delivery

- Coordinate sexual health initiatives, projects and activities across NSW.
- Support project planning, implementation, deliverables and reporting requirements.
- Contribute to the development of work plans, project documentation and program resources.

Community & Member Engagement

- Build strong relationships with AH&MRC; Member Services and Aboriginal communities.
- Facilitate consultations, activities, workshops and forums to identify community needs and priorities.
- Support culturally appropriate engagement with Aboriginal men and communities across NSW and participation in sexual health initiatives.

Health Promotion & Resource Development

- Develop and disseminate culturally appropriate sexual health resources and educational materials.
- Coordinate awareness campaigns, community education and workforce development activities.
- Ensure resources and activities are evidence-informed and culturally responsive.

Stakeholder Collaboration

- Collaborate with government, health services, community organisations and sector partners.
- Represent AH&MRC; at meetings, forums, working groups and other relevant events.




- Facilitate information sharing across the Aboriginal Community Controlled Health sector.

Reporting & Evaluation

- Monitor participation, outcomes and project progress through accurate data and records.
- Prepare reports, briefings and project updates.
- Contribute to evaluation and continuous improvement activities.

Qualifications & Experience:

- Qualifications in Public Health, Community Development, Health Promotion, Aboriginal Health, Social Sciences or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
- Demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal communities and stakeholders.
- Experience coordinating community-based health, education or engagement programs.
- Experience in sexual health, men's health, health promotion or preventative health initiatives is highly desirable.

Skills & Knowledge:

- Understanding of sexual health issues impacting Aboriginal communities and the social determinants of health.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship‑building skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including preparing reports, presentations and project documentation.
- Strong project coordination and organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Ability to coordinate workshops, forums and community engagement activities.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
