Our client is a successful, highly respected residential home builder, based in Newcastle, NSW, specialising in small to medium projects across the Hunter and Central Coast regions. Due to continued growth, they are looking for a dynamic and process driven Estimator to join their team. Working closely with the Sales and Construction teams, this role will ensure clients’ needs are met through continued collaboration and process improvement. This role will provide a professional advocate for the business by delivering exceptional customer service and building strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
ABOUT THE ROLE
As the Estimator, you will be play a critical role within the team, bringing together the design, quoting, costing, pricing and procurement functions of the business.
The main responsibilities of this role include:
- Interpret plans & supporting documentation to develop detailed BOQs.
- Liaise with Sales, Design and Construction teams to accurately prepare cost estimates.
- Maintain and improve systems & procedures.
- Communicate with other departments regarding material changes to estimating costs & build practices.
- Suggest ideas for improvements in estimating process & systems.
- Introduce new suppliers and/or new products to lower the cost of build to achieve company profits.
- Provide accurate and detailed take offs.
- Review construction plans and advise of alternative/cost saving build practices.
- Provide accurate pricing for building tenders and variations, while checking for over budget invoices and orders.
ABOUT YOU
- Relevant Industry Qualification or Cert.
4 in Building and Construction.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in the construction industry.
- Good problem-solving skills with a solutions focused mindset.
- Able to manage competing priorities.
- Ability to work within and across various departments of estimating, with highly developed interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work efficiently both autonomously & within a team environment.
- Excellent Excel and systems knowledge and experience.
- Able to produce a high level of accurate work, with a great attention to detail.
- Strong knowledge of NCC & relevant standard.
