POSITION DESCRIPTION
The primary purpose of this position is to support the delivery of a quality and compliance framework, that embeds child safety, regulatory compliance and drives continuous improvement across all St Nicholas services. Reporting to the Head of Quality & Compliance, this role will ensure that all services operate within a framework that prioritises the safety, wellbeing and rights of children to deliver quality education and care, while proactively identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks associated with service delivery in Early Education and OOSH.
The role works in close partnership with Operations Managers to ensure that each service is meeting the regulatory and legislative compliance requirements and the implementation of policies, procedures and frameworks that uphold best practice standards. This includes ensuring that quality assessments are embedded in operational planning, incident management and continuous improvement processes.
The role also plays a central part in stakeholder engagement and sector advocacy.
It fosters collaborative relationships with internal teams, government bodies, and external partners to promote the work of St Nicholas and influence sector-wide initiatives. The role requires the incumbent to be a trusted leader with a professional and confidential approach that inspires confidence in management, employees, and other stakeholders. The role is a proactive one that will also ensure compliance with external regulation, internal governance and drives continuous quality improvement of services
whilst ensuring sustainability of the Diocese.
The incumbent commits to always working within Work Health and Safety guidelines and Code of Conduct whilst in the employ of the Catholic Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle. The incumbent in this role is not a Person with Management Control (PMC).
EXPERIENCE/CRITERIA
- Sound knowledge, understanding and the ability to interpret and apply the National Quality Framework, Child Protection Legislation, the Family Assistance Law and other related legislation specific to the industry.
- Prior experience and demonstrated understanding of auditing Early Education centres and OOSH services to ensure they are meeting all quality areas to a high standard.
- Proven ability to coach a large team in high quality service delivery and implement best practice standards across an organisation.
- Demonstrated knowledge of service requirements of the CCSS (childcare subsidy system) and ability to perform software application for compliance
QUALIFICATIONS
- Diploma in Children’s Services or Degree in Early Childhood Teaching as identified by Australian Children’s Education and care Authority or business-related qualification or demonstrated professional experience.
- Current Working with Children Check (WWCC).
- Current Class C Driver’s Licence.
- National Criminal History check clearance.
- Minimum 3 years demonstrated experience in a Quality and/or compliance position.(Desirable).
- Demonstrated experience in multi-site management(Desirable).
