Job Description: Role title: Hospital Scientist (Scientific Officer) Role type: Max term contract part-time 32 hours/week (12months contract) Role grade: Hospital Scientist (Year1-8) Department and location: Sydney Heart Valve Bank (SVHB), St Vincent’s Public Hospital, Sydney Salary: $79,433.52 - $113,298.98 (pro-rata) + super + salary packaging
About the role
- Support the manufacture and supply of cardiovascular tissue grafts, ensuring products are prepared to the required standards and timelines.
- Work closely with the Production Manager and Quality Manager to complete production, documentation and operational activities.
- Maintain accurate files, records and procedure manuals, ensuring donor and recipient information is handled with the highest level of confidentiality and security.
- Contribute to quality assurance, monitoring and continuous improvement activities to support secure and high-quality outcomes.
- Participate in out-of-hours and weekend on-call duties once fully trained, supporting the ongoing supply of cardiovascular tissue grafts.
About you
- Bring strong integrity and a commitment to St Vincent’s values, with relevant experience in health, medical or life sciences environments.
- Demonstrate a sound understanding of anatomy and medical terminology, with the ability to follow procedures, protocols and documentation accurately.
- Have hands-on experience with aseptic techniques in sterile, controlled or clean-room environments, with a solid focus on quality and safety.
- Have excellent time management and organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Communicate confidently and professionally,
with strong Microsoft Office skills and the ability to build positive relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.
