Do you believe in the power of women's leadership to shape stronger, more inclusive communities? ALGWA NSW is seeking an experienced and proactive Executive Officer to provide strategic, governance and operational support to its President and Executive Committee, on a part-time basis over a 12-month contract.
For more than 70 years, ALGWA NSW has championed the participation, representation and leadership of women in local government across New South Wales. This is a unique opportunity to work closely with a committed volunteer Executive Committee and play a genuine role in shaping the next chapter of the Association's growth and influence.
Remuneration & hours
$45,000 inclusive of superannuation for a 2-day-per-week (14–21 hours) role, worked flexibly and remotely from home.
About the role
Reporting to the President of ALGWA NSW, the Executive Officer is the primary point of contact for the Association and plays a critical role in driving organisational effectiveness. You will support the delivery of the Strategic Plan, coordinate key initiatives and events, and strengthen relationships across the NSW local government sector.
This role combines strategic coordination with hands-on administration, and suits a highly organised, self-motivated professional who is comfortable working independently in support of a volunteer-led organisation.
● Provide governance and administrative support to the President, Office Bearers and Executive Committee
● Coordinate Executive Committee and sub-committee meetings, including agendas, minutes and follow-up actions
● Act as the primary contact for ALGWA NSW's approximately 180 members and external stakeholders
● Build and maintain relationships with ALGWA National, Local Government NSW, the NSW Office of Local Government and councils
● Support membership growth, communications and the promotion of ALGWA NSW programs and advocacy initiatives
● Assist with the planning and delivery of forums, workshops, networking events and the annual conference
● Support grant applications, sponsorship opportunities and continuous improvement of systems and processes
About you
You are a confident relationship-builder who thrives working with volunteers and committees, and who is motivated by the prospect to support an organisation with a clear purpose. To succeed in this role, you will bring:
● Demonstrated experience in governance, administration, project coordination or stakeholder engagement
● Experience supporting boards, committees or volunteer-led organisations
● Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare professional reports and correspondence
● Strong digital literacy and proficiency with Microsoft Office and online collaboration tools
● A proactive, solutions-focused approach and the ability to work independently
● Current entitlement to work in Australia
Experience in local government, the public sector or not-for-profit membership associations is highly regarded but not essential.
Why join ALGWA NSW?
This is a rare opportunity to contribute to an organisation that has played a significant role in advancing women's representation and leadership in local government across New South Wales. In return, you'll enjoy the flexibility of remote, part-time work, meaningful and varied responsibilities, and the chance to genuinely influence positive change across the sector.
ALGWA NSW encourages applications from candidates with diverse experiences and backgrounds. If this role excites you and you believe you have the skills and passion to contribute, we encourage you to apply, even if you don't believe you meet every requirement.
