Join the Stem Design team

Stem Design is a Brisbane-based floral design studio creating bespoke flowers and installations across weddings, corporate events, hotels, venues and commercial spaces. We’re looking for an experienced florist with a minimum of 3 years’ professional floristry experience to join our growing team. This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys variety and wants to work across a broad range of floristry rather than being limited to one area.

Our work spans weddings, corporate events, large-scale installations, hotel work, weekly corporate flowers, deliveries and on-site event production. For the right florist, this provides an opportunity to develop a broad skill set across projects that many florists don’t have access to.

About the role

This position offers approximately 20–40 hours per week, with the potential to progress to permanent part-time employment for the right person. As our work is event-driven, flexibility is essential. Hours and days vary according to our project and event schedule, with work generally occurring Monday to Saturday and the occasional Sunday when required.

The role includes some early mornings and occasional later finishes to meet event delivery, installation and collection schedules.

You’ll work closely with the Stem Design team, with the ability to work under direction when required and independently once confident with a brief. There is also scope to take greater ownership of projects as your experience with Stem develops.

What you’ll be doing

Your work will vary and may include: · Creating floral arrangements, bouquets and designs for weddings, corporate clients and events

· Conditioning and preparing large volumes of flowers

· Producing large-scale floral installations

· Preparing flowers for hotels, venues and corporate clients

· Assisting with weekly corporate floral accounts

· Preparing and delivering event flowers

· Installing and packing down floral work at venues

· Loading and unloading vehicles and transporting flowers and equipment

· Maintaining stock and keeping the studio organised

· Working with the design team to interpret and execute creative briefs

· Contributing creative ideas and practical solutions

· Working efficiently to meet event deadlines

What we’re looking for

You will have a minimum of 3 years’ professional floristry experience and strong technical foundations. We’re looking for someone who is:

· Confident producing quality floristry independently

· Comfortable working under direction and adapting to different briefs

· Creative, with a good eye for proportion, colour and composition

· Efficient and able to work with pace when required

· Highly organised and detail-oriented

· Reliable, punctual and professional

· Calm and solutions-focused under pressure

· A strong communicator and team contributor

· Comfortable working independently and taking initiative

· Interested in developing their skills across different areas of floristry

· Willing to learn and continually improve A highly developed personal design style isn’t essential. We value strong technical skills, creativity and a willingness to learn, and will help the right person develop within the Stem aesthetic.

A current, unrestricted Australian driver’s licence is essential and is a non-negotiable requirement of the role. The position involves driving for deliveries, transporting flowers and equipment, and travelling to venues for installations and pack-downs.

The physical side of the role

This is an active, hands-on floristry position. It involves extended periods on your feet and regular lifting, carrying and moving buckets of flowers, boxes, equipment and finished floral work. The role also involves loading and unloading vehicles, moving larger floral pieces and assisting with installations and pack-downs.

Applicants should be comfortable with the physical demands of commercial and event floristry and able to safely perform these essential duties.

Why Stem Design?

Stem offers the opportunity to experience a much broader range of floristry within one role. You’ll work across weddings, corporate events, hotels, commercial clients, large-scale installations and ongoing floral accounts, gaining exposure to different venues, clients and creative briefs.

For the right person, there is also the opportunity to develop technically and creatively, take on greater responsibility and progress into project ownership over time.

Interested?

If you’re an experienced florist looking for a role where you can create, learn, work across different types of floristry and be part of a professional design team, we’d love to hear from you. Please submit your resume and a brief cover letter outlining your floristry experience, availability and why you’re interested in joining Stem Design.

Please note: This position requires a minimum of 3 years’ skilled floristry experience and a current, unrestricted Australian driver’s licence. It is not a junior or entry-level position.
