These roles focus on investigating and resolving compliance matters under the Planning, Development and Infrastructure Act 2016 and the Local Nuisance and Litter Control Act 2016, helping to create a safer and more enjoyable built environment for our community. It is our intention to fill these vacancies out of this applicant pool.

The Opportunities
Depending on your skills and experience, you may be considered for opportunities that involve:
Development Officer - Compliance
- Investigating alleged breaches of planning and local nuisance legislation.
- Providing professional compliance advice to residents, developers, applicants and internal stakeholders.
- Negotiating and mediating compliance outcomes with a range of parties.
- Preparing evidence and supporting enforcement activities, including legal proceedings where required.
- Managing complaints and compliance matters with professionalism, fairness and objectivity.
- Maintaining accurate records and ensuring legislative requirements are met.
Senior Development Officer - Compliance
- Providing technical leadership and day-to-day guidance to a compliance team.
- Managing and overseeing complex compliance investigations and enforcement matters.
- Providing specialist advice on legislative requirements, policies and procedures.
- Initiating and managing enforcement action, including representation in legal proceedings where required.
- Identifying opportunities to improve systems, processes and service delivery.
- Supporting organisational decision-making through reporting, analysis and technical expertise.
Who You Are You are more than a compliance professional. You are a trusted advisor, problem solver and skilled communicator who can balance regulatory requirements with practical community outcomes.
You Bring
- Experience in development compliance, regulatory services, planning, building, environmental health, local government or a related field.
- Strong investigation, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Experience resolving complex matters through negotiation, mediation and conflict resolution.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and customer service capabilities.
- The ability to work effectively within legislative and regulatory frameworks.
- Strong written communication skills, including report writing and documentation.
- Sound judgement, professionalism and attention to detail.
- A collaborative approach that builds trust, accountability and positive outcomes.
- Experience working with legislation such as the Planning, Development and Infrastructure Act 2016, Local Nuisance and Litter Control Act 2016, and other local government regulatory frameworks will be highly regarded.
