Help parents create digital wellbeing for their family!

We are looking for a friendly, capable, tech savvy support person to join our parent workshops on children's digital wellbeing and online safety.

You'll be working directly with parents, helping them set up and troubleshoot parental controls on their children's devices and explaining technology in a way that is simple, practical and non-judgemental.

The role would suit someone with IT support experience, Apple/Android specialist, technology trainer, school-based IT support professional, or someone with strong hands-on family technology experience.

You’ll attend parent workshops and provide practical, hands-on support to parents wanting to set up parental controls on their family’s devices.

Your role is to translate technical settings into simple, easy-to-understand advice so parents leave feeling confident using the tools available to them. You can specialise in Apple IOS devices or Android and Window devices or both.

Role:

Attend occasional parent workshops across Sydney and provide hands-on technical assistance to assist parents to:

· Configure Apple Screen Time and other parental controls on Macs, iPhones and iPads.

and/or

· Configure Google Family Link and Microsoft Family Safety as well as setting up parental controls on android phones, tablets and Windows PCs.

· Set up safety settings for platforms like: YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, Snapchat, Roblox and Discord.

· Troubleshooting common parental control device and related account issues.

You don't need to know every platform, but practical knowledge of platforms commonly used by children and teenagers is useful and various gaming platforms. Keeping up to date with changes to parental control features across major platforms is required.





Training will be provided on our workshop content. Also access to training videos and information on the tasks listed above will be provided to utilise in your own time if you don’t already have all the knowledge of the above.

Criteria - We’re looking for someone who:

- Enjoys helping people with technology and troubleshooting their problems
- Has hands-on experience supporting Apple and/or Android and Windows devices
- Are patient, approachable and non-judgmental and can avoid technical jargon to explain technical concepts in an easy-to-understand way.
- Are comfortable working one-to-one with parents as well as in a workshop workplace.
- Relevant background training

Desirable:
- Will keep up with changes to relevant technology and online platforms.
- Has personally configured parental controls for children or families.
- Are genuinely interested in digital wellbeing and online safety for families.
- Has a Working with Children Check (or can get one) and able to travel to workshops.
- Give an example of explaining a technical problem to someone who was not confident with

technology.

Experience backgrounds can include:

- IT/Desktop Support Technician, School or Education IT Support
- Apple Technician or Apple support specialist
- Digital Literacy Trainer /tutor
- Cybersecurity or online safety professional
- Technology support for families or seniors

Practical experience and your ability to communicate with parents is highly valued.

Hours:

· Casual position

· Evening and occasional weekend workshops

· Sydney metropolitan area

Pay: Casual hourly rate based on experience - $50-$80/hour + a set travel time allowance.
