As our Research and Digital Scholarship Librarian (Research Data), you will provide expert advice on research data management and manage systems and services to capture research data and other research output types. The role ensures the integrity, discoverability, accessibility and preservation of the University research outputs, supporting compliance with institutional and funding requirements. You will provide University wide leadership in research data management standards and services to support University research priorities and reporting obligations.
About the Role
Reporting to the Manager, Research and Digital Scholarship, you will develop and modify processes, procedures, systems and/or techniques for the work area and/or contribute to the development of university-wide systems, processes and procedures.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Provide expert advice to researchers on best practice in management of research data and other research outputs and facilitate the deposit of research data and outputs in research repositories consistent with responsible research practices.
- Coordinate, implement and evaluate standards by which to review research outputs to ensure compliance with relevant University policies, including data sensitivity, research integrity, and intellectual property.
- Manage the configuration and maintenance of relevant systems, including integration with relevant university systems ensuring accurate data exchange between internal and external systems.
- Provide expert advice on preferred formats and associated metadata to facilitate discovery, re-use, and long-term preservation.
- Develop,
implement and support research data training programs and activities that are sustainable and scalable.
- Support compliance with university and government policies relating to national evaluation exercises and funder requirements related to research data and other outputs.
- Contribute to University processes regarding the development and usability of systems providing access to research metadata and datasets.
- Liaise with relevant University and external stakeholders and groups to promote best practice in the management of research data sets and other research output types.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of processes relating to access and discoverability of research outputs and metadata to improve the University's services in recording and reporting of research outputs required for University and Government reporting.
- Lead continuous improvement of workflows for deposit, access, discoverability and reporting of research outputs and metadata, including documentation of procedures.
- Provide expert advice to senior University and Library Management to inform the support relating to the University's strategic goals in the area of research data management.
- Comply with relevant EEO and WHS regulations
- Perform any other duties as required and appropriate for this classification.

Selection Criteria
- A relevant degree with substantial subsequent experience, or an equivalent combination of knowledge, training and experience.
- Demonstrated understanding of standards and best practice in research data management, including open access, access control, intellectual property and copyright.
- High level analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively with a range of stakeholders and clients.
- Ability to quickly develop knowledge of organisational functions, policies, systems and procedures, and to understand how different operational areas interact.
- Awareness of current trends in academic, research, or comparable information service environments.
- Knowledge of relevant work health and safety requirements and the ability to apply organisational policies, systems and processes in context.
- Ability to analyse and critically synthesise information to investigate problems, develop solutions and contribute to new knowledge.
