We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Clinical Nurse Educator to join our Learning and Development team. Working collaboratively with the Nurse Unit Managers (NUMs) and Learning & Development team, you will deliver high-quality education, mentorship and professional development to support clinical excellence, competency and evidence-based practice across the perioperative department. This permanent part time position.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing expert clinical guidance, mentorship and support to nursing staff across preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative care.
- Planning, developing, delivering, and evaluating evidence-based education and professional development programs.
- Identifying and addressing learning needs related to perioperative clinical knowledge, technical skills, and professional behaviours.
- Supporting the ongoing maintenance of mandatory education, clinical competencies and compliance requirements within the theatre department.
- Reviewing and developing policies and procedures in line with current guidelines, standards, and evidence-based practice.
- Promoting a culture of continuous learning, clinical excellence, evidence-based practice and professional accountability.
- Supporting students, graduates and early career clinicians within the perioperative setting and programs.
- Participating in quality improvement initiatives to enhance clinical education and patient outcomes.
- Contributing to the implementation of change, innovation, and evidence-based practice improvements.
- Supporting the orientation, onboarding and transition of current perioperative staff to ensure safe and effective clinical practice.
- Collaborating with Nurse Unit Managers and multidisciplinary teams to identify education priorities and support workforce capability.
- Supporting accreditation requirements, clinical governance activities and the achievement of National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) Standards.
About You:
Essential
- Registered Nurse with current AHPRA registration.
- Minimum of three years’ recent clinical experience in a perioperative environment.
- Demonstrated recent clinical experience across one or more perioperative specialties including Anaesthetics, Scrub/Scout or PACU.
- Excellent communication, coaching and interpersonal skills.
- Experience supporting accreditation activities and quality improvement initiatives.
- Demonstrated ability to facilitate education and support adult learners.
- Commitment to evidence-based practice and continuous quality improvement.
- High level organisational and time management skills.
Desirable
- Previous experience in a clinical facilitator, educator or leadership role.
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment and/or adult education qualifications.
- Postgraduate qualification in Perioperative Nursing or Clinical Education.
- Completed Ramsay Preceptorship Program or equivalent.
