The role

The Sydney-based Head of Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A;) provides advice and recommendations to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) in the development of strategies and plans for the FP&A; function and APRA. The position is responsible for providing advice to senior leaders on the development, implementation and tracking of budgets and performance. This includes accountability for the provision of accurate financial data and forecasts to aid senior leaders in making decisions, and thereby achieving APRA's strategic vision.

The team

The Chief of Staff & Enterprise Services (ChES) division is responsible for key stakeholder management and integrated communications to internal and external audiences, as well as providing corporate shared services functions that assist other areas of APRA to achieve its strategic objectives. The division consists of Corporate Affairs, Enterprise Risk & Assurance, Finance & Operations, People & Culture, Project & Portfolio Management, Regulatory Affairs and Strategy & Governance.

The Finance & Operations branch is responsible for the development and implementation of effective accounting, business planning, project management and procurement frameworks to deliver requisite services to APRA, which facilitate the achievement of APRA's corporate objectives. These services include financial and management reporting and accounting, strategic and business planning and reporting, project financial management support, enterprise procurement services and the preparation of budgets and budgetary estimates for the Executive Board and Management Committee.

This role reports to the CFO and is a primary financial contact within the Finance & Operations team. Key internal stakeholders include senior leaders across APRA, the Chief of Staff and Enterprise Services Division, and Internal Audit. Key external stakeholders include the Department of Finance (DoF)



and the Department of the Treasury.

Key responsibilities

- Provide financial solutions and accurate information to senior management on business issues, such as funding, budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis and insights, enabling them to make business decisions and deliver on their financial commitments;
- Develop and implement financial strategies and plans in support of APRA's corporate and business objectives;
- Provide the Board Members and Executive Directors (EDs) with strategic and operational reporting to assist in decision making and the utilisation of resources;
- Liaise with other government agencies for financial aspects, including determination of industry levies, funding and cost-recovered activities;
- Lead and support APRAs requirements through the Government's budget and reporting cycle and processes;
- Lead and develop team members, including identification and fostering of potential talent and managing of performance throughout the team;
- Set clear goals and objectives for team members in line with APRA's corporate plan and capability frameworks; and
- Model inclusive leadership behaviours and instil an open culture within the team, where divergent views are shared and respected.

About you

- Experience in senior finance and leadership roles;
- Deep knowledge and understanding of financial planning, risk management and performance management concepts and practices;




- Proven skills and capacity to manage the development and tracking of strategic and operational financial budgets and plans, including investment pool;
- Experience and skills in the development and implementation of financial management systems, processes and reporting procedures;
- Demonstrated capacity to analyse financial data and provide senior leaders with insights that meets their business requirements;
- Adept in the use of financial systems, modelling tools and software;
- Demonstrated ability to build, lead and develop high performing, engaged teams;
- Proven relationship building, negotiation and influencing capability;
- Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to advise and report to internal and external stakeholders and Boards;
- Ability to lead change and deliver strategic projects;
- Good understanding of operational systems and government operations; and
- Professionally qualified in finance (CPA/CA).
