About the role
Mater Private Hospital Townsville is seeking Expressions of Interest from experienced internal Registered Nurses within Perioperative Services who are looking to take the next step in their leadership journey. This opportunity is offered as an 8-week leave coverage , providing valuable exposure to the Floor Coordinator role and the opportunity to further develop leadership, coordination, and operational management skills within a busy theatre environment.
Working closely with the senior staff team, the successful candidate will support the day-to-day coordination of Perioperative Services, ensuring efficient theatre flow, safe patient care, and effective utilisation of resources while contributing to the achievement of departmental objectives.
Salary range: $56.08 - $60.05 per hour plus superannuation and access to not-for-profit salary packaging up to $15,900 + access to many staff perks!
What you’ll be doing
As the Floor Coordinator you will be responsible for ensuring a safe, efficient, and effective service is provided to patients and Visiting Medical Officers within Perioperative Services on a day-to-day basis. You will provide clinical expertise, direct support and coaching to staff within the department, with a clear focus on the patient experience and quality of services.
- Ensuring appropriate staff allocations and skill mix to reflect the changing workload and to meet patient needs.
- Coordinate all clinical activity to maximize efficiency and ensure staff meal breaks and reliefs are arranged in a timely manner.
- To act as a clinical expert within the area of work demonstrating specialist knowledge, skills, and expertise.
- To liaise and co-operate with the wards, other departments, and personnel in the hospital.
- Work collaboratively with other team leaders in the theatre department in the daily running and organisation of theatre activity and provide support in all clinical areas as necessary.
- To maintain and raise the clinical standard of care through the process of audit, and as a result implement changes in best practice.
- Identify and communicate quality improvement ideas to senior staff to enhance patient care.
About you To be successful in this role you will meet the following in the following:
- Current AHPRA nursing registration as a Registered Nurse (no restrictions)
- Advanced clinical knowledge and experience in a clinical area or specialty applicable to the unit.
- Minimum of 4 years’ experience in Perioperative Nursing.
- Demonstrated advanced ability to communicate complex and challenging information constructively.
- Post graduate certificate qualification- desirable
- A strong work ethic, positive attitude and willingness to role model and promote the Mater values
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to liaise with a variety of different stakeholders both internally and externally at various levels
- Ability to plan and facilitate management of workloads
