Fundraising Institute Australasia (FIA) is the peak body for fundraising across Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand. FIA supports and represents fundraising professionals and organisations through education, advocacy, professional standards, member engagement and sector leadership.
An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced fundraising and philanthropy professional to lead the next stage of growth for the FIA Foundation.
This is a hands-on role for someone who can turn strategy into action, building donor support, developing compelling funding opportunities, cultivating philanthropic relationships and demonstrating the impact of the Foundation’s work across Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand.
Key Areas of Responsibility
- Implement the FIA Foundation fundraising strategy and build sustainable income across major gifts, individual and regular giving, Gift-in-Wills, grants and philanthropic partnerships
- Build and manage a strong donor and prospect pipeline, cultivating and stewarding relationships that lead to long-term support
- Create compelling cases for support, donor propositions, grant submissions, campaign materials and impact communications
- Develop partnerships with philanthropic, education, research, corporate, community and other purpose-aligned organisations
- Coordinate donor communications, recognition, events and engagement opportunities
- Measure and communicate the impact of Foundation-funded initiatives through evaluation, reporting and storytelling
- Maintain accurate donor and fundraising records in Salesforce and use data and insights to strengthen fundraising performance
- Work collaboratively across FIA and with the Foundation Committee, Board,
partners and other key stakeholders
What does our ideal candidate look like?
- 5–7 years’ relevant experience across fundraising, philanthropy, donor relations, foundation management, grants and/or program development
- Demonstrated experience in major gifts, individual giving, donor cultivation and stewardship
- A warm, engaging and authentic relationship builder, able to establish trusted connections with donors, funders, senior stakeholders and partners
- Proven experience creating compelling fundraising propositions, cases for support and grant applications
- An accomplished communicator and storyteller, able to bring purpose and impact to life and inspire others to support the Foundation’s work
- Strong project management skills with the ability to move comfortably between strategy and hands-on delivery
- Confident using CRM systems to manage donor relationships, pipelines, stewardship and reporting, (Salesforce knowledge is desirable)
- Highly organised and able to manage changing priorities while working both independently and collaboratively
- Experience within a membership organisation, professional association, peak body, not-for-profit or purpose-led organisation would be highly regarded
- Police clearance
- Full Australian working rights with no restrictions are required
