Company Description Statewide Geotechnical (Aust) Pty Ltd is a privately owned Australian engineering company established in 1987, specializing in geotechnical engineering and engineering geology. The company employs a professional team of certified Engineering Geologists, Soil Technicians, and Laboratory personnel and has completed more than 30,000 site investigations. Its clients include consulting engineers, architects, commercial and residential businesses, national utility companies, local government, and state authorities.
With over 20 staff across Engineering and Drilling divisions, Statewide Geotechnical operates from a main office and equipment depot in Ringwood, in Melbourne’s eastern suburbs, with projects across all eastern seaboard states and South Australia.
Role Description The Geotechnical Drilling Offsider is a full-time, on-site role based in Boronia, VIC. This position supports drilling operations by assisting drillers with setting up and packing down drilling rigs, handling drilling tools and equipment, and preparing work sites in accordance with safety and environmental requirements. Day-to-day tasks include loading and unloading materials, collecting and labeling soil and rock samples, maintaining cleanliness around the drilling area, and performing basic equipment checks.
The role also involves following directions from senior drilling personnel, completing documentation as required, and working safely as part of a small field team in varying outdoor conditions.
Qualifications
- Ability to perform physically demanding field work, including manual handling, working outdoors in varied weather, and operating hand and power tools safely.
- Basic mechanical aptitude for assisting with routine checks, minor maintenance, and troubleshooting on drilling equipment and vehicles.
- Strong awareness of workplace health and safety practices, including use of personal protective equipment and adherence to safe work procedures.
- Reliable teamwork and communication skills to follow instructions, coordinate with drilling and engineering staff, and represent the company professionally on site.
- Current driver’s license; ability to travel to different sites as required (truck or HR license and White Card are highly regarded).
- Previous experience in drilling, construction, mining, or geotechnical fieldwork is advantageous but not essential; on-the-job training will be provided.
- Willingness to work flexible schedule, including early starts, and to comply with all company policies and site requirements.
