Role Description The Grader Operator is a full-time, on-site role based in the Greater Sydney Area, responsible for operating graders on civil construction and earthworks projects. Day-to-day tasks include safely operating grader machinery to achieve required levels and tolerances, performing cutting, trimming, and shaping of roadways and site surfaces, and working closely with site supervisors and engineers to meet project specifications. The role involves conducting pre-start checks and basic maintenance on equipment, adhering to all safety, quality, and environmental procedures,



and coordinating with other plant operators and ground crews for efficient site operations.

The Grader

Operator will also assist with site set-up, follow traffic and site management plans, and contribute to a positive, cooperative team environment.

Qualifications

- Proficiency in grader operation, including fine trimming, levelling, and working to line and grade using plans or set-out.
- Experience in civil construction and earthworks, ideally on roadworks, subdivisions, or infrastructure projects.
- Strong commitment to safety, including adherence to SWMS, site rules, and use of PPE, with knowledge of quality and environmental best practices.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, levels, and site instructions, and communicate effectively with supervisors and team members.
- Relevant licences and tickets for grader operation (e.g., VOC or nationally recognised plant operating ticket), and a valid driver’s licence.
- Experience performing daily pre-start inspections, basic maintenance, and reporting equipment faults or hazards promptly.
- Reliability and punctuality, with the ability to work full-time hours, adapt to changing site conditions, and collaborate in a diverse team.
- Previous experience in Australian civil contracting environments and familiarity with integrated Safety, Quality, and Environmental systems is advantageous.
