If you are a technically strong Geotechnical Engineer who enjoys being the person structural engineers and clients turn to for practical advice, this could be an excellent next step.

We are seeking an experienced Senior Geotechnical Engineer for an established engineering consultancy in Orange, NSW.

This isn't a mining-focused geotechnical position. The emphasis is very much around buildings, foundations, structural loads and providing practical geotechnical advice that can be incorporated into structural design.

The role

You will take a senior technical position / hands on role, working closely with structural engineers, clients and other consultants across a variety of building-related projects.

Your involvement will include

- Interpreting geotechnical investigations and providing clear, practical engineering recommendations
- Advising structural engineers on foundation design, bearing capacities, settlement and structural loading considerations
- Providing recommendations on suitable footing and foundation solutions
- Reviewing ground conditions and identifying potential geotechnical risks
- Preparing and reviewing technical reports
- Working directly with clients and other engineering disciplines
- Providing technical guidance and mentoring to less experienced engineers
- Helping develop strong, long-term client relationships
- Contributing to business development and identifying opportunities for further work

What we're looking for

- Ideally,



you will have around 10-15 years' geotechnical engineering experience, although capability is more important than an exact number of years.
- You should have a strong technical background in building-related geotechnical engineering, particularly foundations and the interaction between ground conditions, structural loads and foundation design.
- Just as importantly, you need to be able to communicate. The successful person will be comfortable sitting down with a structural engineer or client, explaining the geotechnical issues and recommending a practical way forward.
- Previous leadership, mentoring or business development experience would be highly regarded, particularly if you're looking for a position where you can have greater influence over the direction of the geotechnical discipline.
