Head of Engineering | Hands On.

We’re partnering with a high-growth Australian SaaS business to appoint a Head of Engineering to lead its next phase of technical evolution. Working directly with the founders and executive team, you’ll lead a small engineering team and take ownership of engineering strategy, architecture and delivery as the business scales globally. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who can set direction, make pragmatic technical decisions and remain close enough to the technology to challenge, guide and influence.

The chance is particularly interesting because the business is moving quickly into AI-native and agentic product development. Alongside its established SaaS platform, it is building a new agentic platform and rethinking how AI, automation and modern developer tooling can improve both the product and the way software gets built.

We’re looking for an engineering leader from a high-growth SaaS or technology environment with strong architectural foundations, experience building and scaling cloud-native platforms and genuine curiosity around AI. You’ll need the technical credibility to lead experienced engineers, the commercial judgement to partner effectively with founders and Product, and the ability to build a high-performing engineering culture without introducing unnecessary complexity.

You’ll bring:

- Engineering leadership within a SaaS or product technology business
- Strong software engineering and architecture capability
- Experience with cloud-native platforms, DevOps and CI/CD
- Exposure to AI/LLMs, agentic systems or AI-enabled product development
- A track record of improving engineering quality, velocity and accountability
- Strong product, commercial and stakeholder judgement
