Position OverviewPankind is seeking an experienced Head of Program Delivery to lead the operational delivery of our patient and carer programs, including our patient information and navigation service. Pankind does not run or sponsor clinical trials; this role makes sure patients and carers can easily find out about trials that may be relevant to them, understand what is involved, and know the right questions to ask their treating team. The role also leads Pankind’s broader patient and carer support program, program measurement, and funding application input.
The ideal candidate will bring strong execution skills, the ability to turn strategy into action, and a track record of getting programs designed, delivered and measured.
Key ResponsibilitiesClinical Trial Information & Navigation• Lead Pankind’s clinical trial information and navigation service, helping patients and carers find out about trials that may be relevant to them and connect with the next step.
- Own the curation and ongoing maintenance of clinical trial information Pankind provides to patients and carers, making sure it is accurate, up to date, in plain language and easy to act on.
- Develop and improve the trial navigation pathway and tools (such as Pankind’s Clinical Trial Finder) so patients and carers can quickly understand which trials may be relevant and what to do next.
- Prepare plain-language resources and question prompts that help patients raise clinical trials with their treating team and make informed decisions.
- Maintain working relationships with trial investigators, sites, sponsors and research networks to keep trial information accurate and support patient enquiries and referrals — noting that Pankind does not run, sponsor or manage trials.
- Stay current on the pancreatic cancer trial landscape in Australia and overseas, including new therapies and what is currently enrolling.
- Identify practical, patient-facing barriers to trial participation (for example awareness, location or information gaps) and work with clinicians, hospitals and trial networks on ways Pankind can help address them.
- Represent the patient and carer perspective at relevant sector forums and stakeholder discussions as required.
Patient and Carer Program Management• Lead the design and delivery of Pankind’s patient and carer support program, with a focus on helping patients access clinical trials and the broader care they need.
- Oversee day to day delivery so that navigation is high quality, fair and timely across all stages of the patient journey.
- Maintain program policies, procedures and service standards.
- Make sure programs are delivered respectfully and sensitively, taking patients’ and carers’ situations into account.
Navigation Service Leadership• Manage the patient and carer navigation function,
including recruitment, supervision and development of navigators.
- Set clear protocols for navigators on what they do, how to escalate concerns and how to handle sensitive cases.
- Oversee navigator workloads and resourcing to keep delivery sustainable and safe.
- Support navigators with complex cases and act as the escalation point for high risk matters.
Program Definition and Management• Define the goals, scope and intended outcomes for each program activity.
- Manage programs from planning through to delivery, monitoring, review and closure or handover.
- Develop clear workplans, risk registers and reporting.
- Coordinate internal teams and external partners to deliver joined up program outcomes.
Program Measurement and Impact Reporting• Set up simple, clear ways to measure how programs are going and the difference they make.
- Lead impact reporting so the board, funders, partners and the broader pancreatic cancer community can see what Pankind has achieved.
- Set targets, track progress and use what you learn to improve programs.
- Oversee the systems and tools used to capture and analyse program data, keeping privacy and ethical standards front of mind.
- Produce regular impact reports, dashboards and case studies for internal and external audiences.
Funding Application Input• Provide expert input and program content for funding applications relevant to program activities, including grants, philanthropic proposals and government bids.
- Develop program budgets, evidence summaries and outcomes content required by funders.
- Work with the fundraising team, including the Trust and Foundation Manager, plus finance and the executive, so applications reflect what programs actually do and cost.
- Contribute to funder reporting, acquittals and relationship management for program-related grants.
- Identify new funding opportunities that fit program priorities and Pankind’s strategy.
Content Strategy (in Partnership with Marketing)• Partner with the marketing and communications team to develop and execute a content strategy that reflects program activities, outcomes and the experiences of patients and carers.
- Provide expert input so all content is accurate, appropriate and sensitive.
- Identify content opportunities arising from program delivery, including stories, insights, resources and educational materials.
- Help develop patient and carer facing resources in plain, accessible language.
- Support marketing on campaigns, fundraising stories and stakeholder communications that honestly represent program impact.
People Leadership• Lead, mentor and develop the program delivery team, including navigators and program staff.
- Set clear performance expectations, give regular feedback and support team wellbeing.
- Build a collaborative, values-driven team culture.
- Plan workforce needs and develop capability across the program delivery function.
Governance, Risk and Compliance• Make sure programs comply with relevant laws, professional standards, privacy requirements and appropriate clinical oversight.
- Maintain a program risk register and put sensible mitigations in place.
- Contribute to board and committee reporting on program performance, risk and strategic matters.
Qualifications and Selection CriteriaEssential• Tertiary qualifications in health, science, business, public health or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
- Demonstrated senior experience leading the operational delivery of patient support, health information or community programs; experience in a clinical trial navigation, patient advocacy or research-adjacent setting is highly regarded.
- Strong track record of building and managing relationships with a wide range of external stakeholders, such as clinicians, hospitals, industry, research networks or community partners.
- Track record of turning strategy into delivery: building workplans, driving actions through to completion and keeping multiple workstreams on track.
- Experience curating health or medical information, or making complex clinical information clear, accurate and useful for non-specialist audiences.
- Demonstrated contribution to successful funding applications, including grant writing and budget input.
- Experience setting up ways to measure programs and reporting on impact to boards, funders or executive audiences.
- Experience partnering with marketing or communications teams on patient and carer facing content.
- Robust people leadership skills with experience managing a small team.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, especially translating complex information for different audiences.
- Strong contract negotiation skills.
- Commitment to Pankind’s mission and a real interest in making a difference for people affected by pancreatic cancer.
Desirable• Existing relationships within the pancreatic cancer, oncology or broader cancer sector, including industry, clinical or research networks.
- Familiarity with CRM platforms and health data systems.
- Exposure to the clinical trial landscape, for example through patient advocacy, health information, navigation or research-adjacent roles.
